The War in the Ukraine

I just saw on a telegram channel that the Russians have appointed a new person to lead the SMO.
General of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Sergey Surovikin, was put in charge of Russia’s “Special Military Operation” in Ukraine

Sladkov’s nickname within the Russian Armed Forces is Cannibal. He’s known as a tough MF@R, a hardliner

He’s currently in charge of southern group of the Russian Army & led several offensives which saw Ukrainian troops encircled and destroyed in LPR

He’s also largely accredited as the sole reason why the Syrian government was able to regain its territory from ISIS

He does not believe in retreats & does not favour surgical approach to strikes. In Syria, we noticed that his approach was rather “go big or go home” — huge aerial bombardments were his thing

He’s also rumoured to be next in-line to eventually retire Gerasimov as the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces

(Now confirmed)

If the oil train is not there then the chap blow up the truck in the main span of the bridge, causing more serious damage, and possibly blocking the waterway.

The brige segment in green is the only waterway leading in/out of the sea of Azov.

If that fall into thewater and closing the only shipping route then the economic damage is more serious than due to the currently damaged bridge segment.

Red is the place of the explosion, green is the possible target.

The damaged bridge segment easier to fix , and doesn't blocking the waterway like the green long span bridge segment.

It was a luck on Russian side, and a dumb decision by the driver to asses the train more valuable than the suspension bridge segment.

Another probable version according to Readovka, automatic translation:

The terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge - the explosion could have been organized by suicide bombers in two cars at once.

It is obvious that the terrorist attack that took place this morning was prepared by Ukraine not for one day or even one month. However, the question remains open as to how an explosive device with a yield of 10 to 20 tons of TNT equivalent could have ended up on the bridge, which is a special control zone. It is logical to assume that the SBU (The Security Service of Ukraine) has developed a more complicated plan than just an attempt to smuggle such a huge load of explosives in a heavy truck.

The experts interviewed by Readovka agree that two vehicles could have been involved, one of which (a large truck) was carrying ammonium nitrate or other similar cargo with all the accompanying bills, and the other (a passenger car) was a detonator and had an explosive device on board. This is confirmed by the surveillance video, which shows that at the moment of the explosion, the truck was being overtaken by a passenger car (watch the video from the cameras carefully).

The absence of an explosive device on the truck as such can also be an explanation for the fact that the truck passed through the inspection points unhindered. The inspectors let the truck through for this very reason - the truck itself could not have exploded. In turn, the explosive device in the passenger car could have been either well hidden, or it could not have been inspected properly.

this looks really bad for Russian internal security. They cannot ID someone driving a truck loaded with explosives onto supposedly the most critical and secured bridge in Russia? There's no checkpoints or scanners?
Yup. Has.

The bridge is manned from coast to coast and is provided by border guards and the Black Sea Fleet anti-sabotage group.

From the air, the bridge is continuously guarded by the Tor, Pantsir, Buk-M2 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems. To avoid threats from land and sea, a separate naval brigade was formed in the Kerch Strait, as well as 100 aircraft permanently based in Crimea that are likely to be in full readiness.

The only way is through sabotage as they are highlighted in various media and sources. This was a result of the general failure of the border guards and the anti-sabotage group providing protection for the bridge.

The context of this attack has been taking place since April 19, when Oleksiy Danilov - secretary of the National Security and Defense Council - warned that as soon as it gets an opportunity, the AFU will be able to attack the bridge that connects Russian territory to Crimea.

Medvedev on that occasion of the events before the 9th of May threatened to retaliate if Ukraine attacked the Crimea bridge saying they will treat it as a terrorist act, let's see what the Russian response will be, the answer will likely be only in verbal language.

Might actually be a missile. The video below purports to be dashcam of the event (twitter version of the telegram above):

That second video is fake. It was created in the events before the 9th of May when many believed that Putin would declare mobilization and war against Ukraine, with the Ukrainian response being the attack on the Crimea bridge, they even had a website timing the day and time of the attack(

Most likelly the CIA had information about the equipment they used to detect explosive, and a group of engineers had overtime somwehere in the USA to find ways to hide explosive device from it.

Only way to stop this kind of attacks is to increase the cost of the USA to do so .

Which forecast incteresting options for Russia.
