The War in the Ukraine

@Janiz I'm just mildly curious about what is funny about an US official testifying about biological weapons research. I don't mean to probe you, but I just find it interesting. Do you not trust Victoria Nuland, official of the USA's state department, the same USA that is the master of NATO and by extension master of Europe, and among it, Poland? Is the word of Americans considered laughable to you? Or is it the fact itself that US is making bioweapons "funny"?

I apologise in advance if I misinterpreted it, but you're one of the people constantly using these reacts to news that aren't from US mouthpieces.

Personally I find the development of WMDs by a nation that has in the past used them on civilians to be disturbing. Not funny.
His people suffered brain damage after being made to obey the country that used nuclear weapons on them, 'humour' is a coping mechanism
REFRAIN FROM INSULTING ANOTHER USER. This is your final warning.

Epic fail from the Russian side in Kharkov, I laugh every time I see some one saying the Russian withdrawal in Kharkov is some 5D chess move from the Russians.
The Ukrainians have said they will punish all civilians in the newly captured territories who collaborated with the Russians.
When a military withdraws leaving it's civilians to the vultures then that is not some 5D chess move, that is just soldiers running away because they were faced with overwhelming enemy forces.
I think its fair to say that the Russian defensive lines in that front have collapsed.

What's stopping Ukraine from further attacking is probably supply lines and to avoid getting overstretched. I would suggest getting back all those places left by Russians, consolidation and then further attacks.

They were selling T-84's as recently as 2017 to Thailand.

They were delivering old hulls they had built years prior but couldn't between manufacturing defects, lack of industrial capacity and the coup.

Part for the gas turbine might be an issue on the Russian T-80's, but Ukraine is no stranger to turbine technology.

aero-derived maritime gas turbine and vehicle-based gas turbines are two very different beats. If Ukraine could have reverse enginered the GDT100/1000, they would have done so years ago instead of coming up with the T-80UD.

How many NATO aircraft, ships, divisions, brigades, tanks, is Russia fighting against?

This is a war between Russia and a NATO-supported Ukraine. That's it.
Russia can't even handle a NATO proxy war lol
Ah yes, a Proxy that most of it ISR were handle by NATO and operated with key NATO weapons
One can only imagine how badly Russia would have beaten if the West didn’t refuse to send Abrams, and Leopard 2 tanks and Bradleys and Marders IFVs. Ukraine has deployed NATO style well prepared focal point attack axis despite operating subpar material.
Which shows that the West and Ukraine still have the upperhand in the conventional escalation spiral.
They would get bogged down before even meeting the Russians because of the terrain
That evidence for thousands of dead Ukrainians soldiers? Russians also claimed they retreated in orderly fashion despite the fact that internet is full videos and pictures of abandoned Russian military hardware.
What makes you think that those equipment were operational especially those BMPs that were stored in and the ones abandoned in the middle of the forrest?

Pretty sure at that time Ukraine send only 1 T-84 and even then they couldn't finish the deal completely and the deal was signed many years ago!

Well. It looks like the nuclear power plant will be irrelevant going forward. Tho Ukraine is going to be missing a good chuck of electricity, which they are probably subsidizing through the EU.

The last operational reactor at the Russian-held Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in Ukraine has been fully stopped as fears of a radiation disaster continue.

“A decision was made to shut down power unit No 6 and transfer it to the safest state – cold shutdown,” it said on Telegram

It is truly eye opening to watch the utter humiliation of the Russian fighting spirit. It would seem the only bargaining chip on the table is nuclear weapons, there is a serious lack of meaningful conventional power. Russia is too decrepit and corrupt to even threaten it's nearest neighbors. I'll have to make a donation to the Ukrainian Army, they have time and again shown courage and resilience.
I think it is very early to celebrate Ukraine's victory.

It isn't a complete victory, but it will likely galvanize support for Ukraine in the coming winter months. More precision guided weaponry will no doubt find their way into the UkAF growing arsenal, adding to the woes Russian forces already face. It'd seem that Ukraine now demonstrated the capacity to interdict supplies before they arrive at the front lines. This has allowed for a fairly spectacular advance. How long before we see that bridge to Crimea being hit cutting the island off from the Mainland and drastically increasing the distance resources have to travel to get to Kherson Oblast.

Ultimately, this was was decided in the first few days when Russian forces failed to take key objectives. Everything since then has been a colossal failure and I now believe will culminate in Rusexit. I had my doubts about Ukraine being able to pull off a successful counterattack.

Now I read in a Russian analysis that the Ukrainians, by attacking the least fortified area of Kharkiv, were hoping that the Russian defense ministry would panic and start transferring manpower and equipment from Donbas and southern Ukraine to defend Kharkiv, and that would expose those two fortified strongholds.

According to the same article, by rough estimates the two counter-offensives in Kherson and Kharkiv in the last ten days have already cost Ukraine 9,000 dead soldiers.

Despite the psychological effect that propaganda is trying to achieve by spinning panic rumors about its counterattack, the Russian military leadership made the right decision, experts believe. In a situation of numerical superiority of the enemy, whom the commanders throw literally to certain death, it is more expedient to leave a few settlements, but save lives and equipment, to be done on the Izyum direction.

At the same time, the AFU apparently expected that the Russian command would send in reinforcements from the DNR and southern Ukraine. But the provocation failed. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the military withdrew behind the Oskol River to take up positions there and regroup.

According to rough estimates, the actions have already cost Ukraine nine thousand lives. At the same time, military experts consider the Kharkiv direction, where the AFU has been fighting fiercely since September 8, to be the least significant, and the desperate attempt to achieve something, despite the insane losses, may be related to Kiev's fear of rumors of a referendum on joining Russia in this region. This would be another global defeat, which Volodymyr Zelensky and his subordinates tried to prevent with the only available method - to waste manpower.

At the same time, in other directions, the AFU is suffering serious losses. The offensive in the Nikolaev-Krivoy Rog, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya directions stopped due to the fact that the Ukrainian forces are literally drained of blood. There the AFU lost almost 4,000 men. Also in the Seversk area in the DNR 2.5 thousand Ukrainian fighters were killed in recent days.

Thus, very soon Kiev will have an opportunity to demonstrate the "results" of the counterattack in the form of tens of thousands of its dead soldiers, screenshots and publications in the media in the hope of further cooperation, if Western handlers consider the successes achieved to be successful. In the meantime, Ukrainians themselves are questioning the humanity of Zelensky's desperate attempt to hold on to his seat, who does not hesitate to sacrifice the lives of ordinary citizens to do so.
