The War in the Ukraine

At this point if Putin fucks off it's gonna be replacement by some unhinged man with opinions similar to Dugin. While Russian far right might fray the alliance with China due to ideology, keep in mind that the Putin westoid gang founded by Yeltsin is also the ones keeping Russia in "Europe" instead of embracing Russia's Eastern heritage. Russian weakness is a result of embracing western standards, trying to procure from weapons from western countries, trying to fit in with the west, trying to cosplay as a mini-USA complete with their own Musks and Bezoses.

When both USSR and China exited the Cold War as communist countries, China was as poor as the most shitty USSR oblasts like Ukraine SSR, 30 years later, Russia has gone almost nowhere following the Gorbachev model, China is the world largest economy with a higher individual life quality than anywhere on the USSR or modern Russia, plus higher life expectancy and better healthcare than USSR's old nemesis USA.

A Russia led by a Orban-esque far right populist is going to be far more practical about the deals he/she makes. They'll be confrontational instead of trying to make economical ties with EU, which in itself would eat more resources from NATO.

If USA could work with Maoist PRC to contain USSR, its not a big stretch to believe that PRC would be open to working with nationalist Russia to contain USA. Especially since such a Russia would be more open to pursue any and all channels to strengthen themselves.

Let's not get over our heads. Ukrainians may be good warriors, but as a nation of 36 million people, they are still no match for Russia at 147 million people and China at 1400+ million people. They are good, but not that good.

The moment Ukrainians invade Russian soil they'll soon learn what war means when Russians mobilize.
I dont rule out a false Russian attack on its soil that will lead to a total declaration of war.

Having more soldiers would allow them to push a little further but their offensive would ultimately grind to a snails pace once more towns and cities needed garrisons and support.
Getting the civilians to be neutral has been the only smart thing that Russia has done so far.

As for needing garrisons in towns and cities, no sht Sherlock, that's how invasions work. Does anybody expects that after conquering a city you would leave it empty to proceed to the next city?...

This is also why vast numbers of troops are required in invasions. A smal garrison here, a small garrison there, and you quickly start reach 10000s of troops removed from combat operations in order to be used only for garrisoning cities and towns.

The danger of leaving your rear unprotected is big enough that is better to sacrifice combat operations than risking your rear. At least if you lose in the front lines, you can still retreat. If you lose your rear, then good luck, you are screwed big time

Still a little too early for a Ukrainian Victory. If they retake the positions in the black sea and push the Russians and its allies back to Russian borders and the ol ruskies do nothing then I guess its full on war or nothing.
The Ukrainian offensive will probably overstretch its supply lines if they keep going at it without consolidating first at some point.
There is also the argument that this is best time to exploit a weakness on Russian defensive lines.

They may have to choose between playing it safe and securing their gains or trying to maximise their gains but also increasing the risk that they get cut off

It’s quite funny looking at all the anti-Russian members go totally overboard with their premature wild celebrations. One major defeat and the Russians have lost the war with even more ridiculous clams about how this would be the end of the Russian nation once and for all and wet dreaming about carving Russia up. And they have the nerve to accuse others of cope!

The war is long from over and Ukraine will need many many more victories of this scare and far bigger to have any hope of just kicking the Russians out of Ukraine.

Let’s first see what the Russian response is and how their counter attack goes before dreaming of owning your own holiday home in the Urals with a Thorne made up of Russian skulls.
