The War in the Ukraine

Another invaders flag falling...
It looks like they've made it to the Oskil River.
I don't think you'll get an answer from anyone here, Russia can hold a 50 thousand man exercise but can't spare the manpower and equipment to push back this new offensive.
The best Russian troops are those that are fighting or already gone. Not those who are making it in the exercise.

Oh the best Russians are already dead or fighting but none of the best weapons are there yet? This is your style of military planning? LOL Keep hoping. The best soldiers are next to the best equipment prepared for NATO or when Putin decides that the special operation is over and war is to start.

How much is the 37000 rounds weight? 1000 155mm + 36000 105mm is about 770 tonnes.

For reference, July 12, 1984 PLA delivered 3400 tonnes of artillery shells to Vietnamese positions in just one day.

Both Russia and China are the believers of "Big Artillery Army" from USSR, so you can guess how helpful this 770 tonnes would be in front of Russian army.

A light cavalry push ! Fast but squishy. They will not be able to keep position if they don't send the big boys... I don't know if they will be able to join the fight. If they don't have reinforcements, these pickup trucks with mg and depleted shoulder fired rocket will be in dire situation for sure. Nothing to protect you from shrapnels in these. We will see if they can keep ground.

If it's true that Chuguev was the staging logistical ponit for the offensive and its getting hammered right now, seems unlikely

Hmmmm, this is starting to look like the totally-not-a-cauldron gadgetcool was bragging about in Kherson, but wider with the further complication of it being right next to Russia.

Apparently, the Russians does not see this "offensive" as offensive that you think it is, therefor not worth it.

You have the answers already in front of you.
  1. Why didn't US put all its troops from Europe and Asia in Afghanistan to quash the Taliban in a year instead of dragging it for 20 years?
  2. Same question to Iraq.
  3. Why didn't China put 4 millions troops in Vietnam in 1979 just to quash any resistance in a year instead of dragging the skirmishes for 11 years?
Regardless the outcome, either none of those conflicts worth the total mobilization, or more troops does not help because of the nature of the conflict, that is why.

I mean... We can clearly see the problem of Russia in this conflict is manpower invested let's not kid ourselves. Neither sino-vietnamese war nor Afghanistan/Iraq was a war that could be solved with more boots on the ground. Also ME is half a world away from US mainland, the fact that they can sustain operations for 20 years speaks to how incredibly bloated their military budget is.

Like if Russia have regulars rather than poorly equipped militia holding the line Ukraine would have had much more trouble in this current offensive.
