The War in the Ukraine

What with Pakistan supplying Ukraine with artillery shells and now this, seems China's allies are taking different sides.

I am sure if the Russians ask nicely, the Chinese will be willing to supply cannon shells. The Chinese have ample capacity and storage. There would be no announcement like the drone deal with Iran or this thing. How would anyone know the shells are from China?

What is the shelf life of artillery shells? Surely China must have vast stocks of 152mm from the days when this was PLA's main tube artillery? Or do they get scrapped/recycled?
not SME, but US claims ~20 years for 155 mm D563 shells.

PLA has 152 mms still in limited active and reserve service:

But Russia does not lack 152 mms I believe, they still have active production of those, but are going on reserves of 122 mms.

Ukraine received TheMIS robotic systems, Ukrainian media reported. According to press reports, the first instance of such a platform has already been delivered to Ukraine in August this year. THeMIS robotic complexes are produced by the Estonian company Milrem Robotics. THeMIS is a universal unmanned combat platform that allows you to install various weapons on it or use it simply as a vehicle. In Ukraine, THeMIS will be used mainly for the evacuation of the wounded and for the delivery of ammunition. The project for the acquisition of THeMIS robotic complexes for Ukraine was called Zhuravel, it was initiated by the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko together with the Ukrainian volunteer medical unit Hospitallers. To date, THeMIS robotic platforms have been acquired by the armed forces of 11 countries for testing.

Russian artillery destroyed a Ukrainian T-64 tank with pinpoint strikes, possibly the tank hit the mines. There is no exact information.

US is still using M119 105mm, so not yet fully phased out to 155mm. However, M777 is meant to replace it.

China is phasing out 152mm as quickly as possible. There was an article in 2017 or so that said the remaining 152mm and 105mm guns in service will be life-extended to make use of the large stocks of ammo (sounds like training), but the future is 155/122.

Honestly, with the way things are going, I wouldn’t be surprised if some countries are selling their existing stock to take advantage of US panic buying and restocking on PLA surplus.

We discussed this a few weeks ago about where the Russian Army is and whose actually doing all the heavy fighting. On the Kherson Front, apparently the milita is also deployed along those lines. So it isn’t entirely true that Ukraine is only fighting the regular army there. Assuming the regular army is actually on the front lines and not completely filled with milita units. The main burden and heavy casualties are still mostly falling on the militias.

It is not all rosy for DPR units in the Kherson direction —
Our chat with a DNR troop:

“They (Ukrainians) are coming strong, bombing doesn’t stop. The battle is difficult. Quadcopters everywhere, it is really fucking difficult because they watch you from the top they know your next move, and same goes for them but they have more of these. We are on defensive here, pulling reserves and barely get any sleep. If we didn’t have aviation we would be fucked but thanks to the Air Force we are able to hold and inflict massive casualties. The pilots are heroes, really, without them we’d retreat here. Now we expect the steam for them to thin but we don’t rely on this.”

I'd say that it is more like that they don't care, and that perfectly aligns with their official neutral stance. You have to remember that this war is ultimately a European one, not an Asian, Middle Eastern, South American or African one.

We have "intelligence" like :
-40000 Syrian fighters to Ukraine
-Iranian SAM's to Ukraine
-Iranian drones purchase
-Russian running out of missiles (for maybe the 4th or 5th time already)
and now "Russian have to purchase artillery shell from NK"

But i wonder why at least in twitterland people dont have long term memory and happily retweet and project "Oh it must be true..or i hope it can be true" without application of real critical power to it. and those very same people can call-out "Russian propaganda".

I found the irony there.
