The War in the Ukraine

The CIA and the MI6 estimate Russian casualties at 15.000, well below Ukraine's claim of +35.000, though admit its mostly guesswork because the lower and higher ends of the estimates are so wide they are largely irrelevant

Then they go off to try and compare the US casualty rate during colonial policing in Afghanistan and Iraq with that of a war like Ukraine's then admit the US wouldn't do that well, either, even against North Korea

15.000 casualties is pretty sensible enough for the Russian side, if its also counts the casualties of the LDPR side

And that would mean the number of fatalities of the Russian side around 3000 KIA, far cry from the Ukrainian claims...

Interviews with foreign volunteers in Ukraine

Lots of Swastikas and Nazi; unprecedented corruption; misery; cannon fodder; low morale; theft of weapons; massive losses, including from friendly fire; the lack of organization among the military and volunteer groups, etc.

“I suppose it’s not the story people want to hear, but the gap between how the war is shown in the media and the reality of the place is kind of ridiculous,” said Sam, the 23 year-old volunteer from the UK.

“Absolutely everything—Javelin missiles, other missiles, vehicles, rifles, ammunition, grenades—all of it has been stolen. And it’s happening on both sides of the border. Lots of it is stolen in Poland, but it absolutely happens when it reaches Ukraine, too.”

Seems a TB-2 Relay station got hit in Kherson.

This relay station allows an "extended" control from "main" ground station. The munitions targeting it was, as written a Lancet drone with BDA (Battle Damage Assessment) By another drone.

The benefit of such unmanned station is extended LOS for the drone without endangering the real GCS. The connection to the GCS could be wired or wireless.. I guess VDV operatives or Russian SSO paying visit there might found a SATCOM or even a Starlink terminal nearby.

With all those post of Ukraine being corrupt and selling off western arms, doesn't it paint a even worse picture of Russian armed forces that their advances have been slow as of late? If Russia can only do static warfare when both China and the US is practicing combined arms maneuver warfare, it paints the last 20 years of armed forces reforms in a pretty bad light...

So in your opinion Russia should do blitzkrieg strategy against its own people and nation and destroying its own future just to please war hungry fools on the internet?

Ukrainians, Belorussians and Russians are one ethnicity (Russians), just because there are western assets working on their soil, why would Russia decide to take the route of US? Denazification takes time and is certainly not going to work by blitzkrieging and taking high casualties and inflicting to much "collateral damage" like the Muricans like to say.

Russia is very quickly grinding down VSU with up to 1000 KIA a day. Why would they go faster if this number only will decrease while their own KIA will increase?

The Hohols are getting brainwashed right now that the Russians are not targeting any military targets but bombing exclusively civilian population. If you ask any Hohol they all are parroting the same lie about the Russians are genociding Hoholians. The funny part is the civilian casualties are lower than the military casualties. So we know the Russians are not genociding them. Your "combined arms", which the Russians do right now, can be translated as "carpet bombing" because that is exactly what the US always did and always will do.

Once the armed forces are grounded and all the Wunderwaffeln garbage propaganda comes to its last straw then Russia will be at the polish border and no more Chihuahua japping from Hohols will be heared about Russians genociding civilians. All those Wunderwaffel nonsense of Javelins will destroy entire Russian tank fleet ended in ukropians googling "how to use javelins" or "why is javelin not working" while being torn to pieces in trenches by Russian artillery.

Russia is showing the entire West that a much smaller force, with holding back strategy and mostly Soviet Technology has not only put a NATO trained and equipped Military (stronger than any other European country besides Russia) from a huge Tank fleet army to a bicycle riding Cavalry.

They are doing more than fine. :)
Like some other analyst say Russia doesn't have to rush the war, especially given the huge geopolitical swift that have been taking place the last 5 months. It would be a different story if China and India also sanctioned Russia and the western economic blitzkrieg destroyed the Russian economy, but so far it seems western sanctions are back firing real hard and hitting western citizens wallet.

So Russia can take its time and slowly heat up the economic warfare against Europe, because once peace has been achievable you can bet Europe will drop or lighten up those sanctions asap. Hell all those sanctions or doing is disposing of the European political class i'm surprised so many governments fell in the last 5 months.

Every day that this war drags on, its detrimental to both Russia and Ukraine. Is it not better Russia fully mobilize and crush Ukraine now rather than have western weapons continue to trickle in for a few more years? I can't see how completely demolishing every city they capture is better for their "brothers" future than if they can rush through (this is supposing they can, which they can't), 5 months on they can't get air superiority against 1980s s300s. So what is the ultimate aim of this war? if they're aiming to help their brethren in Donbass and Luhansk then why send all their young men to die and give them second hand equipment? If you think that Russia should expand then just say it, no need to hide behind dubious claims of protecting minorities.

I have no issues with people using realpolitik as a justification for war since it has been done since the dawn of time , I have a problem with people using civilians to shield everything when its convenient and dropping them like a wet rag when its not. By this time an equivalent amount of those 'minorities' have been killed/injured in the invasion than during the whole 2014-2022 conflict, it has only been 5 months.

This forum is for the respectful discussion of military matters in a honest and non-biased fashion, but really in this thread I just see a lot of jingoism and people rooting for the death of people defending their country.

Perhaps Russia can't afford to fully mobilize. Dragging out the war on this side of winter also adds leverage against Europe

Shouldn't you take this to the UAF?

This contradicts your first point - the war ends when the 'defenders' / hostage takers are cleared out

At this point i don't think so many people are buying this line anymore. I clearly remember all the arm chair generals and MSM wind bags cheerleading so proudly and excitedly for the mother of all insurgencies Ukrainians would unleash the moment the Russians steamrolled through to the Polish border, which many of those same nobodies said would take a week tops. Well, at least we have some epic twitter fails from that time to enjoy today

As time went on it proved, (time always brings the truth with 100% reliability) the Russian MOD had a very different plan than what the shepards were telling what the Russian masterplan was. Turns out it isn't facing any mother of all insurgencies, or much of any insurgency at all for that matter, in the areas it has chosen to occupy thus far. How peculiar, the country who has fought more brutal insurgencies than any country, is conducting war differently than based on the theories we subscribed to, and the end result is different than what we are used to seeing.

Even more surprising to me is how these "occupied" people welcome the evil Russian oppressors as liberators. Anyone should find that at least interesting.

In summary, it's just more evidence that in our amazing democracies that are so free and honest, there is totally not a tiny group of people controlling mass opinion so they and their buddies can make trillions in profits as we kill each other and our planet for them.

See my previous post about how this whole situation really just shows the ineptitude of the Russian army.

Ukraine didn't attack Donbass and Luhansk under the pretext of rescuing minorities, they explicitly say that they are reclaiming territory.
This contradicts your first point - the war ends when the 'defenders' / hostage takers are cleared out
See what I mean about people using civilians to shield everything when its convenient and dropping them like a wet rag when its not? What makes you think Ukrainians are hostage takers? Be realistic about it and remove all the propaganda. This is a war of territorial expansion. Why else would Russia run a referendum for the liberated areas to join them.
