If it was a Krasnopol that killed the Abrams, then it’s very unlikely the crew would have survived, and matches up to the fact that the driver’s door remained shut.

That also casts the footage in a different light where the secondary of the blowout panels popping looks to be a result of explosive penetration of the ammo storage from the crew compartment, which also would have penetrated into the driver’s compartment.

In the video, you can very clearly see a second, smaller flame source on the right flank of the Abrams. I first took that for a fallen piece of flaming debris, but that might actually be the penetrating point where the Krasnopol hit.

Seems there is a possibility that the first capture of an M1A1 might occur around Berdychi if Ukraine doesn't launch a counterattack to recover it first.

Clearly Ka-52 or Mi-28 hasnt gone extinct yet.

There is no point in wasting people to recover it. It is not a superweapon. ISIS captured a half dozen of them from Iraq.

It could be useful to better devise counter measures. But all the technology in the M1 is basically obsolete at this point.

There have been ill adviced decisions carried out in the name of avoiding PR losses, so I wouldn't put it past them to make a run for it.
