The War in the Ukraine

Most people of working age in Ukraine migrated to work abroad. That is how you get a skewed population pyramid like that. That and the Soviet collapse in 1991 basically. Nothing short of a disaster.

The episode between Zelensky and Zaluzny shows how basically he has no control over the Ukrainian military. This is a repeat of when he tried to get the military to withdraw from Donbass after he was elected.

I thought it was working age citizens conscripted and killed in battle.

Right. Notice how people stopped having kids in Ukraine in 1991. Same thing happened in Russia as well.
The tough economic condition caused by shock therapy, massive unemployment, alcoholism, breaking down of social services, is the root cause of most of the shortfall in the population pyramid. In the 1990s people had less kids, the situation only recovered around the early 2000s. A lot of people migrated. I wouldn't trust Ukrainian government numbers on migration either. The real migration seems to be much higher.
The loss in population due to the collapse of the Soviet Union dwarves the losses in WW2. Putin calls the collapse a tragedy. Yet some people disagree with him without looking as the historic reality. Only worse event was the Civil War. This population loss almost approaches it.

Worse of all for both Ukraine and Russia is that not only was the period of social unrest much longer but the population growth didn't bounce back to nearly the same degree as in the aftermath of either the Civil War or WW2 periods. Partially because both countries are now much more urbanized.

Just brutal. Russian offensive stopped by a bunch of quad drones. Ukraine's most cost-effective weapon which has probably destroyed more Russian armor and personnel than HiMARS and Javelin combined.
From footage like these it does not seem EW is an effective control against massed UAV usage. There have been enough time and losses that if there was an easy solution it would've been used by now.

Corruption in the highest levels of the Ukrainian government and military means money and weapons end up elsewhere.

The way this FAB goes, it must be a FAB-1500 hitting this Ukrainian deployment points of some kind. The way these buildings looks it could be barracks but for whom and which unit.

Ukrainian gun truck with ZU-23-2 gets hit by a Lancet and burns, so loss. What's important is the place this takes in, which is Sumy region, which is uncommon for long range attacks until recently. ZU-23-2 AA guns do a good job in taking drones down but failed in this case.

Lancet attacks on this Ukrainian tank by the 238th Brigade. This one looks like a solid pen with the Lancet's shaped HEAT warhead.

Successful Russian assault towards Staromayorsky. Note the Russian tactics which are willing to let some vehicular losses so they can discharge troops early in the forest line. Once you see a BMP or BTR without troops on the back, the troops have already disembarked and storming the lines, while the vehicles provide direct fire support, often into trenches or Ukrainian vehicles. Vehicles are not necessarily completely destroyed by FPV drone attacks, we have seen many proof of that, and Russians abandon vehicles which can be later retrieved if the assault was successful. This video by the 60th MR Brigade and the 14th SPN.

Russian POWs return safely on this IL-76.

Not sure what happened here but it looks like the drone fired something that hits this Ukrainian fortified position.
