The War in the Ukraine

Just brutal. Russian offensive stopped by a bunch of quad drones. Ukraine's most cost-effective weapon which has probably destroyed more Russian armor and personnel than HiMARS and Javelin combined.

Suriyak gave that area to the Russians however, meaning it's successful as an assault. T-72B3 can withstand FPV drones, and even if abandoned, if the area is conquered, they will be retrieved and repaired. The five MTLB may not be as fortunate but they are expendable.

It's true that FPV drones are the most bothersome especially the Baba Yaga, technically not an FPV drone but a bomber. However the Russians have a ton of drones too but far too often their footage is NSFW for the forum to post.

Ukraine has sank Project 1242 corvette "Ivanovets"?

One of those old boats with Moskit missiles, 500 tonner. I won't call it a Corvette being three times less displacement than a Type 056. This is more of a FAC. Good demonstration of USVs though.

I just love how the Russians show a clear up-close video of "before the attack" but go IR from a far and can't tell what it's hitting and never show the after. Propaganda at its best. But then again it's not for us but for their people who only have access to what MOD tells them.

Probably because the first UAV may have been shot down or returned, followed by a second UAV at night. Many UAV footage are black and white because they are attacking at night. Doesn't surprise me at all. There appears to be a rocket hit, which points to either be an Iskander or a Tornado-S. I was expecting a Lancet strike.

Taking the opportunity to add unrelated stuff just so I don't have to add it in later.

Compilation of Lancet strikes taking out three Ukrainian tanks in the Bakhmut area. Is that a new Lancet design? Russians overflowing with Lancets now.

Ukrainians confirm the destruction of abandoned school used by the AFU in Kherson as they complain of the shelling of 'civilian objects'. The AFU has been known to use school buildings into something the Russians refer to as 'temporary deployment points' or TDPs since last year.

Ukrainian T-72, hit by Lancet.

Ukrainian warehouses hit by Gerans, which is being shifted to more tactical targets lately. We have never seen Geran attacks done this way with an observing UAV like with Lancet attacks. First attack was in the Kupyansk front and the second attack in Kherson. Ukraine has reported the shift of Geran use to more tactical targets but here we finally get footage. These attacks point to that being in the range of observation UAVs. My theory is that like Lancets, Gerans are overflowing and can be afforded on less strategic targets now.

Russian MoD claim to have taken out a NASAMs from a Colonel Cassad report.

"— RF Armed Forces destroyed the radar ZRK NASAMS of Norwegian production and two fuel depots of the Armed Forces;"

The official Russian reports place the Patriot as responsible for the take down of the IL-76 carrying Ukrainian POWs.

Not sure what happened here. Ukrainian BMP set to deliver and evacuate troops. Saw something in the sky that might be Russian perhaps, and just ran off, cargo included and leaving soldiers behind.

Jammed Baba Yaga retrieved.

I left the speedboats and all other auxiliary ships out of the list.

Imagine if these drone boats could carry a torpedoes, right now direct hit is way more difficult. Ukraine coastal areas need to be captured, all these ships are targets sooner or later.

The use of USVs by Ukraine will be extensively studied by navies around the world. With reliable sat com, they can basically idle like sea mines until external intelligence informs them of incoming target. Their current tactics is rudimentary at best compared to what's possible, yet has already dealt great damage.

A very good podcast came out on the Russia Contingency by M. Koffman, focusing on the strategic aspects of the war going forward.

Some interesting tidbits: Ukraine was firing close to 240,000 rounds of 155mm ammo per month during the summer offensive, which allowed them to achieve a modest fires superiority over Russia. However, in the last month they were down to just 90,000 rounds and suffering higher casualties due to a fires shortfall.

Lots of talk about Zaluzhny, the leaks about his potential dismissal and how that would be a catastrophy (Zelensky may be falling out of favor in the West?), whether Ukraine will dare to mobilize its youth under 25 years of age, who are already the smallest demographic cohort, and thereby jeopardize its future as a country…

They characterized 2024 as the year of opportunity for Russia. Western ammunition production is ramping up, particularly in air defense missiles, whereas Russian strike missile production appears to have peaked. Therefore, Russia will find it more difficult to saturate Ukraine’s GBAD from 2025 onwards.

Of course everything is subject to US presidential elections.

I actually came here to the forum thinking that you had already posted about the sinking of yet another Russian Black Sea Fleet ship that was attacked by a swarm of surface drones, instead of posting speculation.
Oh I figured somebody is going to post about the sinking might as well give this place a little humor by posting a report about Turkish s400.

Footage of Russian kamikaze Lancet drones striking two Ukrainian PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers made in Germany. It is worth noting that the Ukrainian Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled guns have fairly good camouflage and were difficult to notice. The location and time of the Lancet drone strikes have not been reported. In the video, it is unclear what damage the Ukrainian Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled guns received. Please note that in the second video, the Lancet drone is armed with new ammunition; before reaching the target, it hits it with a cumulative jet or impact core at a distance.

Footage of an attack by Ukrainian naval drones on the Russian missile boat "Ivanovets" of project 12411. As can be seen in the video, the ship was attacked by several naval drones, probably about four, they were coming from different directions. The crew fired at the drones, but the available defenses on the ship were not enough to repel the attack. The video shows that the ship is being attacked at the location of anti-ship missiles and at the stern; one hole under the missiles is already on board. After several attacks, the ship tilted on one side and after another blow, a powerful explosion occurred on the ship. As shown in the video, the ship eventually sank. Judging by all the attacks of sea drones, equipment equipped with machine guns on ships is clearly not enough to protect against drone attacks, we need to look for other solutions.
