The Washington Post --- Russian and Chinese executives discuss Russia-Crimea tunnel project.

"▪ According to the publication, with reference to messages intercepted by Ukrainian special services, Russian and Chinese businessmen held secret discussions on plans to build an underwater tunnel connecting Russia with Crimea, in the hope of creating a transport route, which will be protected from attacks by Ukraine.
Intercepted emails show that one of China's largest construction companies has expressed its willingness to participate. The project is ready to finance the bank of China. A tunnel can cost $ 5 billion.
For its part, China is likely to insist on at least partial ownership of the tunnel, increasing its expanding supply of global port and transport infrastructure.
China could also finance the project and receive payment either in the form of duties or through the export of Russian oil and gas."

Apparently the goal to produce 1 million artillery rounds within NATO was only "aspirational" and its promise was mostly "symbolic"

1 million was always aspirational... I had posted on this before.

Total production in Europe was estimated at 300,000 per year here
You can't magically more than triple production, it would require a lot more equipment and facilities.

FAB did not destroy this M113. Instead the M113 fell deep into the crater made by the FAB. Someone sounds upset about it.

Kiev suffered a massed attack of Gerans drones. Explosions were recorded. Interruptions of electricity were reported. This massive attack included about 40 Gerans and lasted through out the night to the morning.

Does anyone know how good is Odessa's defence is? Seems to be the next obvious target
It is one of the largest cities in Ukraine. And it requires crossing of Dnepr river which make any logistic problematic.

So I really doubt that any move in Odessa direction would be conducted.

I would add that all those "Dnepr crossings" by Ukrainian side are really costly to manpower PR moves from Ukrainian side.

To debunk the myth about women and videos like that because I see that Russian propaganda blows about that all the time.
First - average age of Ukrainian soldiers is 40+ years old. Opposite to the Russians where a lot of the troops are youngsters from Asian part of Russia. Recently they started to move on bigger cities in "Russia proper".
Second - if you see a woman or a man younger than 26 years old those are volunteers, not conscripted.

Another myth - Europe and USA is slowly ramping up ammunition production. European countries (EU, so no GB there) promised 1 million of shells of various cals (not for the small arms) until the end of March 2024. 400k were delivered.
And here's main thing: 40% of ammo produced in EU is exported! And 1 million isn't far off.
As I wrote - production is slowly ramping up. It won't be at full pace until 2025 (as there's no war for NATO). Not taking into account the USA production (100k 155mm rounds alone per month in 2025).

Russia under the current wartime economy can produce how many? You can clearly see the disproportion in potential between red hot Russian production and NATO countries which are doing something but not as much as they could even in peacetime.

Why are you providing Soviet Union example? It's not like it was European or Slavic country. It was an opposite of "West" in reality.
1 million round produced? ok great achievement. I guess the usage is about 20k rounds a day. so about 50 days? not sure if you want to observe business day or calender days, either way, take 1 year to produce 1 million, used in less than 1.5 months.

I would like to add that even after making a Dnepr crossing, there are several large rivers on the way east to west to Odessa. Making an amphibious landing would also be way too costly. Let's face it, Russia isn't even taking Kharkiv, which is right next to the border, so they won't be taking Odessa any time soon if ever.

Taking Odessa would probably require invading north to south from Belarus, but I doubt that would happen before taking the east side of the Dnepr.

kharkiv can be a reasonable objective at the end of the war. its so close to the russian border so if the ukrainian army does collapse, russia can take it. of course to get their russia must be able to conduct maneuver warfare again to bite off some chunks of the ukrainian army.
