The War in the Ukraine

Daym, where is this i wonder. The Site looks like a pre-planned one, as you can see the raised earth where the 30N6 radar sits, 3 vans beside it probably containing generators or fuel. In the background, one can see the 40V6 mast with 7N66 Low altitude search radar.

This must be quite behind the frontline or maybe in Crimea.
Not sure if it's a good idea to have static launch sites, they need to be quite far away if not they could become easy prey to ATACMS with cluster warheads.

I assess this as being one of the biggest weaknesses in contemporary Russian practice; I think it’s a holdover from Soviet practice.
I’m, also, not a fan of the large, long-range SAMs for tactical purposes. I think that the S-350 would be better suited.

At least make your costly asset moves... ships near the front lines, dry docks with submarine in range, bunching helicopters for a while at the same airport in range of the enemy, static sam system are clearly not good practices to avoid losses.

Maybe they don't care about a bit of losses and bid on practicability ?

Pre-prepared SAM launch sites are not really the problem, these are cheap to prepare and you generally have a ton of them all over the place. This actually makes it quicker and easier for your SAMs batteries to reposition between shots since these sites will generally have good road access and having pre-prepared sites means your TELs can park and shoot without needed to prepare the ground themselves first.

The problem is NATO ISR.

In a normal war, the enemy can know you have all these pre-prepared launch sites, but have limited and very costly options to checking to see where your batteries are at any one time. Even then, any intel gathered at great cost in lives and assets will almost immediately be obsolete as enemy batteries will reposition as soon as they are done engaging your scout assets.

Blind firing missiles at all the sites is a stupid no-go since there will ge so many sites you will run out of missiles in no time, and anything but a direct hit on a SAM battery can be easily and cheaply repaired in no time.

The factor that cannot be countered is the free reign NATO ISR have to get close to the Russian positions and find their high value assets and direct Ukrainian attacks against them.

Sitting out in a field isn’t really going to change much in that equation. NATO ISR will still have every chance of finding your assets and calling in strikes immediately.

I heard there was a report from a journalist that there were 50 plus tank engines that were on transit when the attack happened. No way to verify if it's true or not but I'll put in in the plausible section.

R-37M being employed with MiG-31 now and, has been responsible for the destruction of 15 Ukrainian aircraft on a short time period, nine being MiG-29s, with seven lost in a single day. Other take downs include an Su-24 and a Mi-8 helicopter. Starting from 10:29.
