The War in the Ukraine

The 1st Russian Defensive Line has been breached east of Robotyne. There are many videos and images of villages in that region confirming that there is a large flow of Ukrainian vehicles and armored vehicles crossing at that point. Apparently the Ukrainians used the captured territory to the east to try to get around the village and attack from the south.

The video of the single tank that ISW cites as evidence of "less [Russian] control north and east of Robotyne as of July 27" I think was released by Russia to laugh at the tank though.

Minor correction of previous post.

It is PTAB 2.5 not 25. PTAB-1M, PTAB-2.5M and SPBE-D or SPBE-K are antitank HEAT weapons while SHOAB is a spherical bomblet. SPBE are homing weapons, -D for thermal homing and -K for radar homing.

Some of the known Russian cluster munitions.

ISW has really flushed their reputation down the drain during this war. Meanwhile,

Rybar claims that the heights surrounding the settlement are more important than the settlement itself. Though I would note, that Ukraine clearly controls part of that ledge. All they have to do is just fight along it.

With the amount of troops throwed into the Russian lines, would have been surprising that they would not manage to advance somewhat.

We clearly don't know precisely the cost of that offensive for both sides but with the amount of new equipment seen smoking, it certainly costly.

If Ukraine cannot manage to get a real foot hold with clear sight on the black sea during this summer in Zaporizhzhia I cannot see how they could manage to progress next year.

Russian forces are advancing in the east while Ukraine are pushing in the south. It look like two snake eating they tails....

You don't really need much to penetrate the top armour of tanks. That's probably close to double the thickness of reasonable roof armor of even a T-90 anyhow.
Right. It'll be in interesting to know if the Lancet operators are trained to specifically guide it for a top down attack or just steer anywhere into the vehicle.

Still no evidence really what has been stated that they broke through the defense line with many casualties, but I've seen some videos of Russians killed and captured in the Robotyne area, but without geolocation confirmation.

from the videos i have seen it is the ukrainians that are suffering some pretty heavy losses in that area. and they are only now closing in on the main defense line. next week will be pretty intense.

We are seeing the effects of scaled up Lancet production day after day, one kill after another.
lol
Lancets are only making up for Russian artillery deficiency in range. Unfortunately for them Ukrainian artillery which had usually already changed to 155mm (NATO standard) has superior range of fire. Russians can't keep up so if they want to shoot at something 15+ km behind the frontline all they can do is to use Lancets. That's one of the factors why Ukrainians loose some pieces when they're reloading (not applying every precaution of course which is their wrongdoing on most of the occasions) as they feel not threatened by the Russian artillery. Russians would probably want to get better artillery pieces with longer range and precision ammunition over any number of Lancets. They're all right but they are only making up for deficiencies and technical difficulties on Russian side. The numbers of destroyed equipment pieces favor Ukrainian artillery by a big margin.
