The War in the Ukraine

Trying to search information on the capabilities of the Harpoon Coastal Defense System. Seems a fairly obscure equipment only used by Denmark and Taiwan, with its max range set at 75 miles or 120 km for the latest variants, so they would still be outranged by Kalibr's but information of detection range and such is hard to come by.

According to USNI, Denmark is sending Block II Harpoons. These have the capability of striking ships in port.

They don't, according to specs. If you put them in Odessa, it doesn't even reach Snake Island. To be able to hit Sevastopol, you'd have to move them so close to the front-lines, you might as well just deliver them to the russians.

If those Harpoons do sink Russian ships, expect either Yemen or Somalia to mysteriously get anti-ship missiles and start blowing shit up.
Great minds think alike it seems but knowing the level of this thread I must write that it had happened already a few years back and this idea failed miserably multiple times. This might be news to you but please read at least this:

Going by your logic it's perfectly fine to sink Russian Black Sea Fleet. I wonder how they would do when put to the real test but we probably all know the answer.

I honestly think the PLA might have quite some interest in actually getting data about the conflict in Ukraine, whether it be from russian satelites or their own.

Basically threat it as training/testing of their systems and people.

Question is if though, if they are only getting from their own satelites or if they are also getting from data from russian site, the later probably/most likely means they might help Russia while the former doesn't could be either (help or not help Russia).

Another thing though, if the China is actually helping Russia, wouldn't the US accuse China of doing so? Afterall they made baseless accusations and lies before, and the US might have some good penetration/intel within Russia.

If China just send data through secure channel there's not much they can do. If they see China's satellites maneuver to get a better look at Ukraine then they might raise a stink

I think it is more of a "who care" situation now.

Even if China sending tanks and airplanes to Russia then what the USA can do ?
Cut its own thorat, and after loosing the biggest energy and raw material warehouse they will loose the cheap manufaturing site as well ?

Seriously, the amercian oligarch class doesn't do anything that harm his commercial interest.

Russia allowing the Ukraine to export millions of dollars worth of cargo would be stupid. I'm sure they've figured out by now they've had two ships sank by NATO supplied missiles and they'll relish the opportunity to even the score.

So I think NATO/UK/US will keep telegraphing their intentions over the next few days and it's going to lead to another nuclear standoff.
They will just sink a couple of cargo ships in Odessa and the port will be useless... they can ferry the grain by train if they like.

They could be bloody in a case of a seaborne invasion of Odessa but for the rest, they will not influence the course of the war.

Russian repelled a counterattack in Kharkiv Oblast. Why in the hell would Ukraine try a counterattack in such an irrelevant area?
The government is led by an actor and comedian who is making speeches around the world to get an applause. It’s also a government that is more interested in taking irrelevant territories for Twitter likes and retweets. Look at the Donbas front. The Ukrainian general staff has been begging Zelensky to give the order to withdraw forces from the front. They see that they are going to get encircled and annihilated. Zelensky and pals refuse because it would look “bad” and give Russia a propaganda wing Either way it will be a propaganda win. It’s all about image and not military realities on the ground.

This is the same thing the Syrian rebels suffered from in the Syrian civil war. They were interested in eye catching headlines from the battle pace. They launched massive offensives with no air cover to only get destroyed by Russian airpower and Syrian manpower. Ukraine is doing the same. They are going to continue to do these silly offensives with no air cover to only get destroyed in the open field. They keep talking about this massive July summer offensive. It’s all hype. They’ll only sped up the destruction of the Ukrainian military.

Happened again, this time in Avdiivka:
To be fair that barrage also shows how Russia is sorely lacking precision attack weapon. But anyway the vehicles tried to cross an open area and Russian artillery just kept pounding them until they decided to back off and run away, leaving behind a few destroyed vehicles.
