Poland went on a shopping spree in South Korea
from breakingdefense . com: Oct 2022: Since late July, Poland has inked agreements with South Korea to purchase 1,000 K2 tanks, 672 K9 self-propelled howitzers,
Yeah, Poland ordered 1,000 K2 tanks. And South Korea immediately delivered them a whole 10 K2 tanks.

South Korean production of the K2 tank has been at best 50 tanks a year. 50 tanks would not last a week in Ukraine. So good luck.

This is a rare footage of a Geran drone hit taken in the air by either another drone or by aircraft. This could also mark a new tactic in the use of Geran drones. Note this a Geran-1 not a Geran-2. Smaller drone, half the payload at 25kg instead of 50kg, must be intended for more tactical targets. The target is a Ukrainian radar, but no mention this is an aircraft search radar or an artillery counter battery radar.

Another Ka-52 vehicular kill.

More Russian attack helicopter kills. Not exactly specified if Ka-52 or Mi-28N.

Maxxpro hit by attack helo. This one at Belgorod.

Ukrainian FPV drone attacks a Russian technical, e.g, pickup with a machine gun.

The remains of a destroyed Ukrainian T-72M1 and a MaxxPro. Unfortunately the commander of the tank did not survive this.

Lancet from the 80th Arctic Brigade takes out an M777. Of note this is the drone operator's first outing with the Lancet and therefore his first kill.

FPV drones takes out Ukrainian command post and an evacuation vehicle carrying the wounded. More and more the Russians are using this.

The 128th Mountain Assault Brigade of the UAF caught trying to move into this village Pyatihatki in Zaporozhye. This storied brigade has a history that goes all the way back to WW2. Recently however, they were caught in the Kherson Gut and was overrun in Soledar. Now they are facing ATGMs from the Russian 19th Division, special forces of the VDV and marauding attack helicopters.

Gerans(Shaheds), while sometimes viewed as rudimentary, are actually quite elegantly engineered and coded.
And yes, they are in fact retargetable. So, unlike many amunitions in Ukraine - and unlike their main use(prop-driven cruise missile) - they are in fact true loitering munitions.

Lancet takes out an M777 hidden in the forest line. This is in the Kherson area.

Abandoned Ukrainian BMP gets grenaded by a drone.

Polish supplied Krab gets knocked out by a Krasnopol round. This is in Ugledar.

The front has been quite quiet lately huh?

After the failed breakthrough attempt there has been a lot of Ukrainian armed reconnaissance, often with AFVs. They have also chipped away at the front in some places with preliminary attacks. They are gathering information about the Russian capabilities and testing their defenses before they organize the next wave.

Well, decisive offensives are either immediately succesful(1 days, 2 days at absolute worst) - or they aren't successful at all.
"add a bit more and they'll finally crumble" is almost always a political sunk cost fallacy of a people signed up for the offensive.
It's almost always better to stop, regroup, and try to change at least either point and axis(direction) of strikes. Better - both.

That's what Ukraine did - provided they can't change too much - as they only have one available strategic goal.
So after failed first attempt - Ukraine went into regrouping and went for counte-battery/suppression campaign; Russia obviously mirrored. Then there were some rains during the weekend, too - which, while good at suppressing Russian air, are even better at restricting the movement of Western equipment(esp. MRAPs).

Now things are heating up again.

Yet, simulataneously, Zelensky demands that Russia withdraw their troops before talks can begin:

Quote from the article:
Zelenskyy’s comments signaled no change in Ukraine’s long-held stance on peace talks, despite the African delegation’s hopes of mediating an end to the war that has raged since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.

“To allow any negotiations with Russia now while the occupier is on our land is to freeze the war, to freeze everything: pain and suffering,” Zelenskyy told a joint press conference with the delegation.

“We need real peace, and therefore, a real withdrawal of Russian troops from our entire independent land.”

Ukraine stood by its own peace initiative, based on a complete Russian withdrawal, but invited the African leaders to take part in an international peace summit that is being drawn up.
Unfortunately, from the looks of it, the African mission wasn't able to get both sides to the negotiating table.

The Ukrainian could put Merkava in their trench, exposing only the turret while the tank can keep watching and constantly firing without need to retreat and reload its munition. The reload of the tank is done via the rear hatch. There were beliefs that Merkava's rear compartment can be used for infantry, which is true but doing such will make the tank devoid of ammo or maybe only have about 8 ready to fire rounds in the bustle storage.
I think the Merkava is one of those tanks that like the Abrams and, until recently, the Leopard 2 owed its mythical status to a set of circumstances rather than any breakthrough tech or design choices.

It is a great tank...for Israel realities and technological level and limitations at the time, as it what was Israel could develop and afford at the time, from the engine on the front, to the rear hatch to reload it and so on. Which hasn't stopped people from memory holing how they didn't fare well in 2006, anyway and how the design hasn't won any competition despite having the same engine as the widely produced M60 and a german transmission up to the Merkava 3.

The pilot of the MiG-29 fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladislav svilev received training courses for fighter pilots at the US military base in Mississippi for two years. In March 2023, he completed his training, returned to Ukraine and died on one of his first combat sorties after his return.

I can only imagine what will happen with a 4 month training if a 2 year one wasn't enough.
