I still thinking about the whole Pentagon withdrawal from Afgansitan was due to the Russian oposition of the troops of Capitol in Ukriane, with all auxilary systems.
Without the transport bridge throught Russia/Russian controled countries they had the only option, remove all troopy by airbridge, and leave all equipment.
The timing suspiciously matched the start of the Russian pressure by removing the Gazprom from the spot gas market . And it was just before the NATO ultimatum .
I shared this video a while ago. Now I found out there's another report that claims there are 50 soldiers in this hold out that got hit by a TOS-1A thermobaric. I can see there's a lot of soldiers drone tracked in the video but I don't know about 50. Unless someone has a longer original version of the clip where they are able to visibly count the troops one by one.

At first this whole ground attack in Belgorod was more of a meh! kind of response because it felt more like a raid to humiliate Russia and make the leader of the rebels get more name recognition but now it feels different
I'm not sure what to make of the Belgorod. This is being done by "rebels" numbering over the couple hundreds and Russia just looks like it doesn't know what to do other than arty the whole place.
Even probing attacks are resulting in big gains and the offensive hasn't even started yet.

So seems that the attack of today was done by the new 31st Mechanized Brigade. This one has Bradleys and Leopards, I think we will finally see them in action.
The destroyed tank is a T-72B, so no Leos used so far,

About the offensive of the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye area
Today, at about 12:00 pm, militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, through reconnaissance in force, attempted to break through on the Zaporozhye front in the area of Vremevsky Balka.
The main hostilities unfolded in the direction of the settlements of Novodarovka, Rovnopol, as well as in areas south and southwest of Vremovka (Neskuchnoye-Makarovka) and south of Novodarovka (Levadnoye-Priyutnoye).
About two motorized infantry companies and over a dozen armored vehicles, including T-72 tanks, American M113 armored personnel carriers, M1224 MaxxProo and HMMWV M1151A1 armored vehicles, took part in the assault.
In addition to the regular units of the UAF militants, Polish mercenaries from the Third Assault Group of the Polish Corps took part in the attack.
After two hours of fighting, the AFU were able to advance about 200 meters, losing at least two tanks destroyed by anti-tank systems, and up to a dozen militants.
As of 16:00, the maximum depth to which the combined forces of the Ukrainian militants and Polish mercenaries could penetrate reached 400 meters.
Thanks to the high-quality defense of our fighters from the 5th Combined Arms Red Banner Army of the Eastern Military District and accurate strikes by the Russian Air Force, artillery and aimed mortar fire, the enemy suffered losses (at least ten armored vehicles and about 50 militants) and at the moment they are thrown back from their positions.

Russian soldiers have recaptured and restored all positions, AFU is regrouping.
At the moment, everything is controlled. It didn't look like a combat reconnaissance in some areas.

Wow it's quite hardcore recon, They are losing quite a few vehicules and troops in the process....
They are receiving enemy attention but i'm not even sure if they retrieved data on enemy positions while doing that kind of poking.
Can they just go with a couple of guys with a radio and use a couple of quadcopters to do recon. They can report what they find and it's easier to flee or just becoming pow if discovered... With a quad with gps and camera they can even draw map with gps of enemy positions with pictures of fortifications.
Maybe it's just to make headlines, in bloody ink.

I think they are not reconnaissance, but assaults, it is less painful to say that a reconnaissance failed than an assault, I mean more vehicles were lost there than in many trench assaults that consisted of 2-3 BMPs....
Also, it is reported that they actually managed to take 2 small villages, only to be push back later
