The War in the Ukraine

How incompetent is the Russian armed forces who can't even stop the Belgorod Oblast against repeated convoy incursions of Polish and Russian rebels from entering in broad daylight? Bureaucracy really runs deep.

So seems that the attack of today was done by the new 31st Mechanized Brigade. This one has Bradleys and Leopards, I think we will finally see them in action.

The destroyed tank is a T-72B, so no Leos used so far,
1 M113 destroyed and 8 Maxxpros/HUMVEEs and such
That's a whole armour company just gone with nothing to show for? From one of the eight NATO level equipped brigades too?

Christ, and this is a part of Zaporozhye with comparatively less dense fortifications. I wonder what the Ukrainians are planning since from this it seems like Russian fortification work has indeed been effective.

No place to hide in Zaporozhye... it's open fields most of the time. Easy patrol with Orlan drone, designating targets for any guided missiles and artillery.. If they need to try something they need to try it with all they have. Piece meal fashion is just seal clubbing.

That's why I'm confused. They sent a small force straight into one of the most heavily fortified areas of the entire line. What were they expecting? Was it just to test the strength of Russian defenses? Or a feint? I'm leaning towards the first since they kind of have to attack in Zaporozhye if they want any hope of forcing negotiations.

Hold off on making assessments. Especially on Day 1, or -5.

The information space is highly unreliable, both sides show and talk about what they want you to see. The most we can say is that some moves have been made. Things generally become more clear as time passes by and more information is revealed.

Remember that both sides can change their minds at any time. Russian MoD chose to save manpower in the Kharkiv operation, even though IMO, the situation was salvageable.

Just as Ukraine chose to continue losing hundreds of men in Mariupol, Lysichansk, and Bakhmut, despite having every option to withdraw.

It is very premature to be making any assessments at the moment.

actually its fairly safe to assume that if ukraine attacks in the zaporozhia sector russia will not back off but will put up a fight. their depth is quite limited so they really dont have much to fall back to. and so much work has been put into fortifying the area that giving them up too easily would be waste.

The feud between Wagner and Russia armed forces seems to be heating up, allegedly the commander of the 72nd brigade was arrested by Wagner and forced to make a confession after clashing the last few days.

The name checks out, but no visual confirmation if this is actually the man. Otherwise a huge escalation for a brigade commander to be arrested by PMC.

Showed this video before but it turns out one of the Ukrainian vehicles hit with precise drone adjusted artillery fire is an Osa.

Ukrainian force attacking somewhere between Ugledar and Zaporzhyzhia falls under heavy Russian artillery fire. Russia claims up to 40 vehicles were destroyed.

Another update on this area that was TOS'd with 50 Ukrainian soldiers allegedly killed. It's a deployment area invading Belgorod.

It should related to this event where the Ukrainian second wave got spotted and spammed by Russian artillery. They were unable to go past the border this time as the Russians and their drones are waiting.
