The War in the Ukraine

I really have some problems with such posts … from both sides since anyone must know that the first victim of war is always the truth even more so since we know that both sides lie.

I however would rate any Russian claim still much lower than OSINT reports from various sources. For official Ukrainian sources I would prefer to abstain a comment.

When the Russians said the Ivan Khurs, the Vasily Blykov and the Admiral Makarov didn't sink, they didn't sink. Why would you lie when photographic, satellite and reconnaissance data is available. Was it a lie when Prigozhin formally announced the fall of Bakhmut? That was collaborated with satellite, photographic and video evidence, which can be and was verifiably background located to all over Western Bakhmut. You can't lie on satellite because NASA collects all the heat imagery, and the constellation of fires on the ground from artillery and battles actually form what the real front is.

How's the Russian Liberation Army's invasion of Russia going by the way?

Another 100 or so raiders just crossed the border near Urazovo-Verigovka, supposedly. There are wilder claims, but until there's proof, no need to post.

If the objective is to make the Russians move troops and be spread thinner, I'd say it is going as planned. The Ukrainians commit very minor forces and the Russians are forced to protect the southern border from essentially guerilla raids.

Does it really work though? Russia is limited by law that they cannot deploy conscript beyond border. Within border it is fair game. Russia is limited in manpower they can deploy outside the border, but not actual total manpower.

According to Russian website Topwar (I have linked it below) Russians are already preparing their own equivalent of teroborona battalions. Not to mention, there are talks on UA channels that Russians are deploying conscripts and forces not committed to the war on the border. Not to mention reinforcing FSB pogranichiki. I personally don’t know how does this affect troop deployments on the frontline. Progozhin also offered to send Wagner and deal with the issue.

Well they lost (again) manpower and material in such a amazing strategy ...
In fact we have from today confirmation of 2 more tanks:

The losses on russian side are basically non existant appart from 2 trucks and 1 BTR-82A
Ukranians have lost as far as I remember 2 tanks, 6+ MRAPs, Humvees, some pickups ...
All for nothing, since this also gives more internal support for Putin.

I'm not really commenting from Russian sources and the validity of their claims or not, just what I'm seeing from the videos posted from street cameras and the odd person who dares to risk filming with their phone, in these cases.

Patriots completely going haywire and hitting the ground is not a uniquely Ukranian issue either as we have seen Saudi Patriots doing the same thing which points to an issue with the system itself and the system has had a lackluster performance since its inception agains't anything not air breathing.

In the matter of trustworthiness in general, Ukranian sources aren't any better, from the Ghost of Kiev to the 4 Il-76 shot down around Hostomel to their latest spat with the Ivan Khurs and Oryx deliberate miscounting of losses.

It seems the Italians weren't the only ones sending inoperable equipment

When the team arrived at Camp Arifjan in March 2022, the contractor provided a howitzer that it said was fully mission capable. But the weapon system was not maintained according to the standard technical manual, per the mobile repair team, and “ ‘would have killed somebody [the operator],’ in its current condition,” the report stated.

When the howitzers reached Poland for distribution to Ukraine, officials there said all six howitzers still had faults that made them non-mission capable, according to the report, including worn firing pins and issues with the firing mechanism. The repairs cost about $17,490 in labor and materials.

In order to meet the deadline to ship the equipment to Europe, the contractor took parts from other Humvees in the inventory, including in one case a transmission, “potentially making that equipment non-mission capable,” the report noted.

When the vehicles arrived in Poland, officials there reported one of the tires on a Humvee was shredded due to dry rot. When the tire was replaced with a spare, that one also failed due to dry rot, the report described.
