They received five launchers with PAC-2s (four per launcher) and three with PAC-3s (16 per launcher), and two reloads for each launcher. They spent a fifth of all the missiles (30 of 152) during one night of operation. With 152 missiles, it's arround 10% of the US stockpile. If a whole bunch of missiles are used to maybe damage a patriot battary rather than any other targets, why is that a bad thing? It seems that AD is doing its job, since the US didn't give any numbers or details on what they have given the Ukranians, it's not like the Russians can ignore the patriot after this one strike.
What will happen in one week ?
With the second battery they will receive they are able to do the same thing one more week. After that when they will receive more reloads ?
Cannot say it doesn't help, but I can say it will not help long enough.
In recent years, the U.S. Army has procured about 180 per year, and in 2023 that increased to 252 missiles for $1.037 billion.
