And in the case of David's Sling, the PAC-3 performance was deemed inadequate enough against modern threats they decided to develop their own version.

Iron Dome was created because Israel had a katyusha rocket and arty problem being fired in mass by terror organizations of which Patriots or any other SAM system can't handle.
PAC-3 is a rather expensive piece of kit with expensive missiles. David's sling is significantly cheaper, which I imagine has something to do with Israel choosing it.
Their largest threat isn't necessarily "modern threats", but saturation attacks from swarms of Hamas rockets.
This has been explained to death and USAF confirmed a kinzhal was fired and intercepted. I guess some people can't handle that the Patriot is a capable defense system.

Don't confuse Iron Dome and David's Sling, 2 different weapons!
Iron Dome is for as you mentioned, rockets, artillery, mortars (uses "Tamir" missile)
David's Sling is the replacement for Patriot for intercepting missiles and aircraft (uses "Stunner" missile)
David's Sling was developed to counter the modern ballistic missile threats posed by Iran, not small rockets. The same type of tactical missiles that leveled an American base in Iraq in revenge for the death of Solemani.
I cannot speak for everyone, but my mistrust of Patriot is from historical fact, not because the Kinzhal is a superweapon.
To paraphrase a former classmate of mine who had lived in Haifa, "The only thing more useless than the scuds were the Patriots"

Anyway what a kinzhal downing would change ? Depleting entire battery to down a missile ? All the hypes about that news is like saying that the SA-3 "Goa" is the best antistealth system because it downed a F-117 and F-117 was crap. Whatever...

At least two missiles failing in a single night whenever the system gets saturated is not the sign of a good AD. If this was an S-400/S-500 we wouldn't hear the end of it about how they are shit
