Everybody remembers the Patriot's success against Iraqi Scuds and Houthi's Iranian missiles...oh wait...

Also, will the Ukrainians be able to operate it effectively with a crash course or do they plan on sending "advisors"?. And if Russia manages to capture one, it will be a boon not only for Russia itself but China, given the proliferation of Patriots in Asia.

Nope! It is not. One strike does not mean anything one way to other.

RuAF should have dominated the skies. It is not at al! Everyday, UAV videos are coming even quite a few Ukraine Mig-29s and Su-25s.. Flow of weapons continuously going on. Otherwise, Russian would have advanced much much quicker and would not *have to* retreated from anywhere.

Forget about weapons' shipments but foreign leaders are coming and leaving Kiev as they wish when they wish.

In short, Ukraine is very much connected to rest of the world and is getting all the support it needs. This is a recipe for a *huge cost* for Russia. As clearly can be seen. Russia, with RuAF and Navy, should have able to close to country. Instead we are observing a trench war.

You are asking for air supremacy which, yes, RuAF has not achieved. What they have achieved though is air superiority. We don't know how much interdiction is going on, but we do know it's going on and each time there's a success that's a big favorable trade.

But that aside, even on the ground we're seeing Russians fight better in Phase 2:

I heard KUB-BLA kamikazi UAV are like $100 bucks each. Were it not for Russia's lack of ability to produce chips in large scale the sky over Ukraine would already be flooded with them. Even so we are seeing KUB and Orlan-10 being used much more now to good effect.

Krasnopol hit with an Orlan-10 designator or Kamikazi UAV ? Not sure...

There goes Russia's main advantage thus far... the ability to conduct long range missile and air strikes.

How much do you want to bet that ethnic Ukrainian-American "advisors" will be defacto operating these Patriot air defense systems, either in-person, or even remotely?

Sadly, Russia's main advantage (air superiority) will be blunt by the Patriot air defense system, which will only prolong this war longer and longer.

The war has been going on for 3 months now. That's enough time to train Ukrainians to operate a platform like patriot with a crash course type training.

A lot of western platforms have been exposed this war, now it's time for one of the most expensive to be tested. As others have said, Patriots have struggled with 60s era Iraqi scuds.
