that Boeing-made Small Diameter Bombs were under discussion."

Ukrainian HIMARs have been one of their most potent tools. GLSDB will allow them to hit anywhere in Ukraine. This, more than anything, should be a serious escalation and needs a response in kind.

GLSDB will have a bigger effect than any other equipment that can be provided at short notice. It adds a massive amount of range to HIMARS system and will force Russia to push logistics hubs further the the rear. 150 km range vs current 90km for GMLRS. Plus they can supply it relatively cheaply, with all the surplus SDBs laying around from Afghanistan.

Archer is an impressive system, but it's sales have been lackluster due to high cost. It is fairly complex system, highly automated.
I would not be surprised if this is a sales tactic. There is absolutely no support system in place outside of Sweden.
Any equipment would be welcomed of course anyway.
Is it really sales tactic to see it blown up?

A letter from Zelenskyy was handed to the Chinese delegation at the WEF, his wife Olena Zelenska said on Wednesday. Zelenskyy seeks dialogue with Xi.

While it would be great for China to help negotiate a lasting peace, if neither side has said to be willing to make concessions with regards to their current military goals, I think this invitation should be politely declined.

Look more like a trap to cause a rift between China and Russia.

It's already clear that Ukraine is not interest in negotiation and cannot even do that without US greenlight. Unless Ukraine actually serious about it which I doubt, China should decline this request. No points to get involve in this mess, let US and their vessel sort their own issues.

There’s no maintenance in Ukraine. Anything malfunctioning and recoverable is sent to Poland and Slovakia.

This is why there is always need for new weapons. The supply lines are long.
I think it is simple :
The USA doesn't send Abrams tanks to Ukraine becase they haven't got tanks ,appart from a skeleton structure.

Most likelly the spare parts stock depleted, the bare minimum of tanks in operational condition to conduct training, and the deployed ones has terrible availability rate.

At the 90s they dismantled the tank manufacturing capability, and most likelly for decades they just used up te old spare stock without ordering anyting.

Tanks are very expensive to maintain, cost 400-500 USD per km , means ten tanks travel 50 km daily basis cost close to 100 million USD per year.
In peacetime, when you drive a Shell tanker to the tank .

The GLSDB is slower than your standard HIMARS rocket with a bigger signature which could make it easier to detect over the standard HIMARS rocket and Grad decoys.

This graph made by Cyberspec shows that the majority of targets within range doesn't vary much from what the Ukrainians are trying to hit already with the standard HIMARS. The most high value target now within range would be Taganrog, where Beriev is located.

Unlike Abrams and HIMARS, SBD will be a part of the US firepower capability in the Pacific against China so I'm not sure they will be particularly generous with them

Russia has moved several Su-30 and Su-34 to Belarus

Ukranian T-64 hit on the glacis by an APFSDS round. Seems to have gone through so its likely it was hit by a T-90M with one of the newer rounds

The Pentagon is considering a Boeing proposal to supply Ukraine with cheap, small precision bombs fitted onto abundantly available rockets, allowing Kyiv to strike far behind Russian lines. Although the United States has rebuffed requests for the 185-mile (297km) range ATACMS missile, the GLSDB's 94-mile (150km) range would allow Ukraine to hit valuable military targets that have been out of reach and help it continue pressing its counterattacks by disrupting Russian rear areas. Boeing's proposed system, dubbed Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB), is one of about a half-dozen plans for getting new munitions into production for Ukraine and America's Eastern European allies.

I think the biggest downside to SDB would be its relatively slow speed compared to a normal rocket artillery strike, so Russia is more than likely capable of discriminating and intercepting the projectiles using it's AA umbrella, Due to the active laser warhead it could also be used in a tactical role, as it has an active laser guided warhead that may be used like Krasnopols. I don't think any armored vehicle is survivable against such attacks.
