The War in the Ukraine

Well I'm not the one in charge of NATO. If I was the leader of America, I'd want to commit hundreds of tanks as well as enough artillery to support such a formation, because tanks in storage at home are doing nothing, might as well use them even if they won't be very efficient. Assuming I want to win the proxy war or at least get more leverage to my side.

But clearly for them there is some sort of concern among American ranks, either a lack of faith in own capabilities or a lack of trust in Ukraine.
But the goal is to not win the proxy war by tomorrow, the goal is to bleed Russia out for as long as possible, this might be about Ukraine for Russia but for NATO, it's all about Russia. So when this all ends, Russia sits quietly for the next few decades and don't be a spoiler so the focus can be maintained on China.

German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung is reporting that Germany's Chancellor Scholz is ready to deliver Leopard 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine but "only if the US delivers Abrams".

The Swedish government may announce tomorrow the transfer of 155-mm Archer self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine (there are 48 units in the Swedish army).

Defense Secretary Austin will be pushing Germany to allow for the transfer of Leopard tanks from other countries to Ukraine amid no signs that the U.S. will be sending their own tanks, US officials say - Reuters

When and how many will make them interesting or not. Before spring and hundreds at the same time could give some punch but couple of dozens given by small batches in the next years will change nothing at all.

Archer is an impressive system, but it's sales have been lackluster due to high cost. It is fairly complex system, highly automated.
I would not be surprised if this is a sales tactic. There is absolutely no support system in place outside of Sweden.
Any equipment would be welcomed of course anyway.

Something like Caesar would be better, since it’s kinda the same thing just without an auto loader, and significantly cheaper and (I would assume) lighter. Yes I know ukraine has already received some.

U.S. warms to helping Ukraine target Crimea even if such move increases risk of escalation. The Biden administration is considering the argument that Kyiv needs the power to strike at the Ukrainian peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014. After months of discussions with Ukrainian officials, the Biden administration is finally starting to concede that Kyiv may need the power to strike the Russian sanctuary, even if such a move increases the risk of escalation, according to several U.S. officials who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive debate.

US knows their Abram tanks need to work in combined-arms and strong logistics (fuel) to be effective, and Ukraine lacks either of these. It's not even the lack of confidence of their own equipment or in Ukraine, it's just sending a ton of equipment without the structure needed to make it operate effectively is a futile effort.
US tanks will be a nightmare for mainanance, as a starter they are not metric but imperial, means the mainance guy needs new set of tools for them.
Every screw has to be suplied from the USA.

The air filter of the tank is as big as the engine in the T-72.

There’s no maintenance in Ukraine. Anything malfunctioning and recoverable is sent to Poland and Slovakia.

This is why there is always need for new weapons. The supply lines are long.

What's its like being shelled by the Russians? British volunteer gives a very detailed account of his experience being in the bloody business end of Russian artillery from mortars to Smerches. I suspect this guy is suffering from PTSD and his smiles suggest he is so happy to be away from it.
