The War in the Ukraine

I have seen that clip and also a longer one during the firefighting phase. Doesn’t look like anyone was home to be honest. The ‘mattresses’ also looks suspiciously like roof insulation panels, and only seem to be present where the roof has collapsed

The biggest red flag for me for those images and videos is the total lack of any personal effects. Even if they dragged away the bodies in record time and thoroughness, it’s hard to imagine they also being able to collect every bit of discarded kit, weapons, clothing, body armour and other sundry items that you would expect to be littered all over the place if the arena was indeed used as a barracks and hundreds of troopers sleeping there got an Kalibre midnight call.

The timing of the strike is also suspicious. If the Russians had credible intel on such major enemy troop concentrations, I don’t think they would sit on it until the enemy had ‘crossed a line’ first before hitting the target. It’s not like anyone has shown any squeamishness about dropping bombs on sleeping soldiers before for all the drone footage both sides have been pumping out.

What’s more likely, that the Ukrainians just so happens to also stuff way too many soldiers in one building in harms way just after punishing the Russians for the same slopping mistake; or the Russians hit a ‘suspected’ enemy barracks and claimed an uncannily similar number of enemy dead right after getting caught with their pants down loosing a whole company to enemy MLRS strikes that should not have happened?
this will be a theme until weather turns warm. in the past i have talked about this as being a major factor that sways winter fighting. because you cannot just survive on your own outside, with your own bivouac and sleeping kit, troops are forced to live together in shelters or tents, makes for a juicier target. in the summer if the threat of rocket and missile attacks are significant you can simply disperse your troops, it wont be comfortable but they will be fine so long as they are taught basic camping and fieldcraft.

Ukrainian infiltration group got spotted and got spammed with BM-21 Grad.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces are known to have tried to covertly approach the forest area to overrun the positions of the RF Armed Forces. Luckily, Russian intelligence officers quickly detected the movements of the Ukrainian troop units and immediately launched an attack on them. BM-21 "Grad" swiftly operated by Russian troops, launching rockets to bombard enemy defense positions trying to move forward. Instead of attacking, a number of Ukrainian soldiers were destroyed by the Russian army. Until this video circulated, various comments were written by netizens."

A Ukrainian quadcopter dropped a grenade into what has to be a Russian ammo depot, given the fireworks that resulted.

"TRIBUN-TIMUR.COM - A building used as a shelter for the Russian military was attacked by Ukrainian grenades. The recording was circulating on Telegram on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. You can see a grenade being thrown from a Ukrainian drone and hitting a building containing dozens of Russian Troops and two military trucks. The building immediately burst into flames, explosions and flames destroyed the troops and the Russian vehicles. The impact of the attack in the form of destruction on the building was clearly recorded on the Ukrainian drone camera. Unfortunately, the exact location of the attack by the Ukrainian troops was not explained."

National Art Palace of the Ukraine hit by missile or drone.

"TRIBUN-TIMUR.COM - This is CCTV footage showing the seconds of the missile hitting the National Art Palace of Ukraine, in Kyiv on December 31, 2022 yesterday. National Palace of Arts of Ukraine, a theatre, concert hall and official event venue in Kyiv. The recording was widely circulated on Telegram on Monday, January 2, 2023. It appears that the building was hit by a missile causing it to shake and be badly damaged. Fragments of the building and glass are clearly visible in the CCTV footage. The use of personal phones by personnel within the enemy armament reach was the main cause of the tragedy in Makeyevka

"It has already become obvious at present that the main cause of the occurrence was activation and large-scale use, contrary to the ban, of personal phones by personnel within the reach of enemy’s destruction means. This factor enabled the enemy to take the bearing and determine coordinates of servicemen location to deliver a missile strike. Required measures are being taken at present to exclude such tragic incidents in the future," the General said.

any words on exactly what unit was stationed there? rumour has it it was mostly conscripts, but even if the conscripts were allowed to use cellphone contrary to the rules, it must have been because enough of the higher ranking officers did the same to make rules unenforceable. i wonder how this will affect morale in the russian army, in that they will likely start confiscating cellphones now.

Cellphones were banned since the start of the war, which is part of the reason why videos from the Russian troops(selfies and such) from the frontlines are relatively harder to come by than Ukranian ones.

Someone got complacent and paid the price. Like that video of a violinist in an Ukranian barrack that was uploaded with its geotags and got hit by a Kalibr the next day early in the war.

If they are smart enough and all the staff say it's because of cellphones, maybe troops will stop using them ? Probably not...

They need to sort the stuff going to the front big time, they are probably easy to find, you can find cellphone detector on amazon...
