Hehehe...well a "Rock" is something substantial to lean on and provide a foundation...and, if hollowed out enough, it can actually float, LOL!Wow! A ship named "big rock"...
In this case I am sure they are taking the first meaning.

These are nice AOE vessels. Displace about 21,000 tons full load. I believe this is their second such vessel and joins the AOE-530, Wu Yi.
I would have put a RAM missile launcher on them too...but since the ROCN hasn't gotten any yet, they have to make do with what they can.
If it were an ROKN vessel, it would probably have a RAM on it.
ROCN's brand new AOE-532, Pan Shi
ROCN's AOE-530, Wu Yi
Actually the PLAN has seven such vessel. For the longest time they had five. Two Fuqing (881, 882) Class, One Fusu Class (885) and two Fuchi Class (886, 887). However, more recently they have added two more, the two Type 809A Class (889, 890). Here they all are:Its interesting that the Taiwanese navy have two of these AOR ships and China only have four !
Where did you come by those specs, Jeff?
Wikipedia lists Sky Sword II's range as 60 km, and I'm pretty sure it is only active radar guided, no IR homing... It is a BVR missile after all, like AMRAAM. [edit: sorry, didnt' see you meant TC-2A, which supposedly has an IR seeker and a larger motor... however has anyone actually seen the missile in service? An IR seeker and larger motor should be fairly obvious]
Also, a surface launch TC II would have far less range than an airborne launched equivalent.
Thanks for that.
In any case I believe the 30km range makes far more sense given my previous post, I believe the 100km range was just a case of reporting numbers for the A2A version.

Taiwan license built 8 OHP Frigates from 1990 until 2001. They were built without Harpoon missiles or their guidance.More Perrys coming.
The first two Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates purchased by Taiwan from the US are expected to be delivered in 2015, Navy Chief of Staff Kao Tien-chung (高天忠) said yesterday.
The two warships, which cost NT$5.2 billion (US$175 million), are to replace two Knox-class frigates, whose condition is the worst in the entire fleet, Kao said during a hearing of the Legislative Yuan’s Foreign and National Defense Committee.
The ships are part of an order of four Perry-class frigates that the US government has agreed to sell to Taiwan.
