I don't think Brunei wanna to release those ships to their immediate neighbor Malaysia, who was once show their interest.

I haven't followed the arbitration but I take it from your comment that the settlement ruled the ships were owned by Brunei even though they no longer wanted them?

yups, those still owned by Brunei even though they no longer wanted them and Lurrsen has been in charge in the name of Brunei Gov. for the sales of the ships.

No further details were immediately available.

Ships carrying iron ore from Brazil and headed for China typically stop in Singapore to refuel. Kishore loaded iron ore at the Brazilian ports of Itaguai and Sepetiba Bay on Oct. 11 and reached Singapore on Nov. 17, according to Reuters shipping tracking data.

China is the world’s top market for iron ore and buys about two-thirds of the 1-billion-tonne-plus of the raw material that is shipped out every year, mainly from Australia and Brazil. MANILA, Nov. 22 (PNA) -- With the commissioning of the "BRP Ramon Alcaraz" (PF-16) on Friday morning, the Philippine Navy (PN) said that it has more than doubled its patrol and monitoring capabilities on the country's vast maritime waters.PN flag officer-in-charge Vice Admiral Jose Luis Alano, in an interview, said the activation of the country's latest Hamilton-class cutter effectively boosted the Navy's capabilities to monitor and protect the country's waters against internal threats and poachers.The commissioning ceremonies were done at Pier 15 of the Manila South Harbor.Alano said he expects such capabilities to be further improved once the five AgustaWestland AW-109 "Power" helicopters joined the fleet.Three of the helicopters will be delivered by December and the remaining two will be operational and in the Philippine service by next year.Alano said that the aircraft will more than double the frigates' maritime domain awareness capability. SEOUL--South Korea's Defence Ministry said Friday that it will buy 40 stealth F-35 fighter jets from Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT) starting in 2018 after its rejection in September of planes built by rival Boeing Co. (BA).

The country's Joint Chiefs of Staff, however, said South Korea will buy an additional 20 next-generation fighter jets from 2023, adding that the purchase will not be restricted to F-35s, leaving the door open for Boeing and other aircraft makers to make fresh bids.

The budget for the purchases hasn't been set yet, it said.

South Korea's defence ministry said in September that Boeing's F-15 fighter jet fell short of its operating needs and reopened the bidding contest, in a move that highlights the challenge for global military chiefs of balancing affordability with securing expensive new technology.

Defence officials cited the need to address North Korea's nuclear threat with stealthy, radar-evading jets, though other regional tensions are also driving the preference for the latest technology.

South Korean air force officials have consistently indicated their preference for the F-35.

Oops. I thought that in the consolidation of threads that perhaps all of that outside of China and Japan had been included. I see now there is a seprate South orean military thread and that is where this belongs.

19 November 2013 Tuesday

Every year, since 1989, soldiers from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Malaysian Armed forces (MAF) have participated in Exercise Semangat Bersatu. This year, the 1st Battalion Singapore Infantry Regiment (1 SIR) hosted the 10th Royal Malay Regiment (10 RMR) for this exercise which was conducted in Singapore.

Exercise Semangat Bersatu 2013 commenced on 14 November with an opening ceremony held at Mandai Hill Camp. Throughout the exercise, the SAF and MAF soldiers built strong friendships through training exercises and cohesion activities. The MAF soldiers experienced training at our Infantry Gunnery and Tactical Simulation (IGTS) Centre and even a SAR-21 Familiarisation Shoot.

2013 Exercise Semangat Bersatu, Singapore

Strengthening the warm and long-standing relations between the SAF and the MAF.

A total of 300 personnel from the 1st Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment (1 SIR) and the 10th Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment (10 RMR) took part in this year's Exercise Semangat Bersatu. The 8-day exercise included professional exchanges and a combined battalion field exercise.

Singapore Armed Forces Chief of Army Major-General Ravinder Singh and Malaysian Armed Forces Chief of Army General Datuk Raja Mohamed Affandi Bin Raja Mohamed Noor co-officiated the closing ceremony this afternoon.
