DND Plans to Purchase Indonesian Spy Plane

MANILA, Philippines – The government plans to procure a spy plane from Indonesia and a troop transport aircraft from Italy, the Department of National Defense (DND) said yesterday.

Peter Paul Galvez, DND spokesman, said the long-range maritime patrol and surveillance plane is manufactured in Indonesia under a joint venture agreement with Spain.

DND Plans to Purchase Indonesian Spy Plane

MANILA, Philippines – The government plans to procure a spy plane from Indonesia and a troop transport aircraft from Italy, the Department of National Defense (DND) said yesterday.

Peter Paul Galvez, DND spokesman, said the long-range maritime patrol and surveillance plane is manufactured in Indonesia under a joint venture agreement with Spain.

The purchase is a small one, not enough to either maintain an aerial presence or available for duty on short notice, especially when the aircraft was on maintenance schedule.

The aircraft can be use in conjunction with the islander aircrafts that they already have and used. This new surveillance aircraft could be used to upgrade the country's capability. But I agreed that more of it should be get to achieve a better coverage (at least 1 would still be flying when the other is under maintanence).

2 CN-235 MPA will be acquired under this plan acquisition so that both could patrol on a rotational basis ...

Royal Thai Navy to modernize HTMS Naruesuan frigate to Datalink with Air Force Gripens
The Thai cabinet has approved a 3.29 Billion Baht budget for the Royal Thai Navy to modernise its frigate HTMS Naruesuan´s computer systems and enable it to link up with RTAF Gripens, according to the Bangkok Post.

Timor Leste Army wants to build together a future with the Indonesian Army

27 September 2012, Jakarta: Vice Chief of Army Staff (Wakasad) Lt. Gen. Budiman received a courtesy call from the Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces (Wapangab) Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (East Timor) Gen. Filomeno Paixao Da De Jesus and his entourage at the Army Headquarters on Thursday , (27/9).

Gen. Filomeno Paixao Da De Jesus said that his purpose was to open a military cooperation with the Army, because the Army is considered to be the most appropriate partners.

Army personnel are expected to provide opportunities for Timor Leste officer, NCO and enlisted men to attend military training in Indonesia. Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste wants to leave the past and build the future together with the Army in particular in the field of security.

Wakasad Lt. Gen. Budiman said, the Army will open itself to cooperate with the Army of East Timor. Regarding education cooperation in the NCO and enlisted men be trained in Rindam / IX and for officers to be trained in Bandung.

In addition, the Army will facilitate the Armed Forces of Timor Leste plans to purchase military equipment such as weapons and uniforms from Pindad to Sritex.

Wapangab RDTL will be in Indonesia on 26 and 30 September 2012. In addition to implementing a courtesy call to Wakasad in Mabesad, is also scheduled to carry out visits to other Army units are in the Special Forces in Rindam Jaya and visited PT. Sritex in Solo.

A fire destroyed the Indonesian Navy's KRI Klewang-625 at the naval port in Banyuwangi, East Java on Friday just weeks after its official launch ceremony. The Fast Missile Patrol Vessel (FMPV) was officialy launched on Friday 31st August, 2012 at PT Lundin’s shipyard facility in Banyuwangi, East Java.

Crazy... composites material are not fire proof?
Most composite materials consist of inorganic fiber ( glass fiber, fire proof ) or organic fiber ( carbon, as in this case, aramid, flax, cotton etc., not fire proof ) and plastic that is basically not fire proof. You can add fire retardants, but a good fuel fire will still consume your structure.
But don't forget under the right circumstances aluminum is also a fire hazard.
