Shenyang next gen combat aircraft thread

5th gen J20 replaces 4th gen J11B/J10C in a regiment, J11B/J10C that got replaced will be transferred to another regiment with 3rd gen J7/J8. Effective in the entire airforce, the net result is 5th gen in, 3rd gen out, 4th gen stay It is like FIFO - First In First Out.

The same will happen when CHAD and other next gen aircraft enter service. 6th gen In, 4th gen out, 5th gen stay.

If you can do higher g in a A2A fight at higher speed and altitude you are greatly advantaged over maneuvers done in a lower flight envelope.
IIRC, G force is what the pilot experience in the change of speed so it isn't the how high you start but how much you change. The tight turn you do isn't limited to tech/plane but how much the person can handle.

Even if it can perform it at higher attitude or speed than a 5th gen, i don't see how much it will help against increasingly modern missile that can pull 60G easily

I love the shengad design, but i think it won't be much more maneuverable than 5th gens. The vertical stabilizer able to transform isn't to be better than 5th gen in maneuverability, but retain a comparable level of maneuverability but with better stealth that cant be achieved with previous technology. The way forward is jamming, passive and active countermeasures but not pulling increasing high G limit turns to dodge missile or get better AOA.

I’m not talking about what a pilot can handle. The actual fact of the matter is that most modern day fighters are *kinematically* limited in higher speed and higher altitudes from pulling higher Gs. Some renowned fighters that easily do 9Gs in the subsonic mid altitude regime struggle to do more than 5Gs in higher altitude or higher speeds.
