Indonesia is deep into KF-X, to the point they are deferring from further Sukhoi Flankers purchase
SE Asia market is big potential for China, barring any dire misfortunes in the SCS

like i said before, for this plane to become an export success, it must go head to head with the likes of BAE/EADS, or Dassault and American companies

Also go toe to toe with American political lobbying, no more "Hey you want this cheap stuff? Just a third of the price and half as good"
Produce and operate J-31s in a good number to ensure consumers of life time spare/parts supply and logistics/maintenance support

Play it like the big boys do

Maybe the DPRK could afford a few planes themselves, of course this would put chitters among the South Korean air forces, therefore put in more orders for the F-35A while waiting for their own stealth plane to be develop. I can imagine even Iraq, and some South American countries that needs to update their air forces pretty badly. Georgia perhaps and maybe Poland could be in the market as far as Europe.

A lot of potential customers have political effects that have to be accounted for. If relations with South Korea went deep south... yeah why not? Can't have them take over the North. But the way they turned on Japan recently, I think they know where the line is not to cross with China. I'm sure Asian countries are watching the tens of thousand of protestors against Japan on the streets of China unlike here in the US where there's little to no coverage of it. China's neighbors probably wouldn't be good customers because their main worry is China itself. That's why they would tend not to buy from China. A customer like Georgia might be a little dangerous. They say Gerogia in someway has a part in the nasty terrorist attacks that happen in Russia. Again like with South Korea, unless relations go deep south, it's probably too risky. I think the top customers would be in the Middle East and South America. Then possibly Serbia since they seem interested in buying the J-10. But again China has to get past their reputation so they're probably going to have eat profits in the beginning just to get the fighter out there.

I wonder if the CGI pictures of J-31 with loads of missiles are amatuerish fan art or what?

RCS would increase if the stealth plane have its missile revealed, is it not?

China has to win an order from a reputable country with a professional airforce, certainly not the DPRK

work it slowly, win a batch here and there, and make it popularly accepted

again operate J-31s in a good number, wonder why the JF-17 is not selling? because CAC/AVIC treating it like a Pakistani bird

the skill is good, but the rendition is purely eye pleasing, line drawings are much better if you are looking for technical specifics, or CAD models

Countries that are rich enough are under pressure from the US to buy American weapons. Countries such as DPRK who wants the 310 aren't going to be able to afford it. In short no country would buy it. Shenyang's target has always been the PLAAF and PLANAF.

May be Russia should buy some. The 310 with stealth and superior avionics would be a good replacement for MiG-29.

the no country would buy because of US pressure is what i mean China has to go head to head with Western companies

wait until those PLAAF/NAF orders taper out (which is still quite some time to come) and AVIC has to start selling aggressively

and it's never too late to try to gain some foothold in international fighter market competition

the Russia thing, lets not get into that okay, you just invited Mr. Mig-29 to the thread

Supplying the J-31 to Indonesia and Thailand would see $$$ coming to China.
Supplying the J-31 to Myammar or N Korea would stir big plup of stool to US.

Donating them to the N Koreans? The immediate thought that comes to my mind is: N Vietnam... which late became a pain in the ass and used all the stuff China donated to them to fight the Chinese.
