At the moment in relative terms it looks like big moves are made between arabs and Chinese. But if you look at absolute terms its looks like the arabs just got bumped up higher a couple of places more inline with where Iran was. So it has become a more even playing field between the Persians, Arabs and Chinese.
Indeed. Yes it is.

Moreover Navigating the relationship between them will be fraught with delicate balancing acts but china I believe is well equipped to handle it. The day when China break its own principles starts interfering in domestic affairs and regime change and putting bases in west Asia and security alliances then I will start to really worry.

In fact, I think China's attitude on the "three islands issue" has not changed fundamentally. I found a 2006 statement on this issue in the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The only difference between the two is that the new statement added "including the actions of the UAE(包括阿联酋……的努力)" after "supports all peace efforts(支持一切和平努力)" . This can be understood as an affirmation of the UAE's peace negotiations, but it is not a judgment on the ownership of these islands. Overall, this year's statement does support the UAE's negotiating behavior compared to the 2006 statement, but I don't think it represents some fundamental change in China's attitude.

Mentioning the three islands is already interference in Iran's domestic affairs and their territory integrity as they are under Iranian control

Iran's foreign minister:

bilateral negotiations in accordance with the rules of international law, and to resolve this issue in accordance with international legitimacy”

The statement itself is fairly harmless. It's nothing compared to china's support of Argentina claim on islas malvinas for example. Of course Iran may not see it that way but then again, it is what it is. People will have different take on intervention on domestic affairs.

Would you say the same if a random country (lets say, Lithuania) said the same thing about Taiwan, HK, and Xinjiang? No I don't think so

No because I see many countries already saying it lol.

Anyway people bigging this up is just useless. Iran won't go gungho and start siding with US against china. It feels slighted right now but the overall picture won't change and Iran does not want to makes things worse. KSA themselves acknowledge that Iran are neighbours with them forever. And there needs to a way forward for peace. No need to make a mountain out of a molehill tbh

That's almost 20 years ago. The world was a very different place then. That the most recent mention of that issue was back in 2006 by itself says a lot of things

The same way why with Pelosi's visit the US excuse about "but we did that in the 90s too, why are you so unreasonable now" was laughed out of the door
