not as big a deal since it isnt using standard gauge.
now CKU construction has started.
More consequential is the Vietnam rail, good to watch for that.

Arent there trains capable of switching of gauges?never thought China would agree to build a brand-new CKU railway system not based on standard gauge.
the need to switch track once the trains leave China is counterintuitive to me.
Or perhaps initially the plan is to use existing railway tracks in K and U to save costs, but as the railway system gets developed further (assuming the existing railway tracks in K and U are aging and need to be modernised anyway) and business volume/revenue picks up, the tracks will eventually be switched to standard gauge??
this is kind of interesting. It talks about China's engagement in Africa. They are really expanding what they are doing there, especially with Ethiopia officers training in China.
Actually more than half of the track is standard gauge including about half the track length in Kyrgyzstan according to this report of tender for Kyrgyz portionnot as big a deal since it isnt using standard gauge.

I guess that is related to the ongoing negotiation of Sinop power plant.Turkish students to study nuclear energy in China under bilateral agreement
Turkey and China have signed a cooperation agreement on the “Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy,” enabling Turkish students to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in nuclear energy at prestigious Chinese universities starting in the 2025–2026 academic year.
Because the other two countries paid 49% of the money.never thought China would agree to build a brand-new CKU railway system not based on standard gauge.

That new raft of Biden sanctions probably triggered this but there will be blowback from it. Biden himself said ‘It is probable that gas prices could increase by as much as three or four cents a gallon, but the sanctions will have a more significant impact on Russia’s ability to continue its actions in the conduct of war’ but I bet that it will be a lot more than just 3 or 4 cents a gallon. But Biden won’t care as any gas price increases will be something that Trump will have to deal with and in any case it is all the fault of Americans for not voting his party back in.
