Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and Global South strategic cooperation

I think Afghanistan is the one most mentioned here but Iran would make sense too. The rationale is using the link between China and Pakistan to transport metals from Iran and Afghanistan in China.

I think there was some talks about building a oil or gas pipeline from Iran to China through Pakistan about 10 years ago before Iran got sanctioned.

The Afghan economy is tiny and has nothing to offer to Pakistan, Iran at least has a stronger economy than Pakistan itself. Pakistan should try to integrate more with the economy of central and western Asia. They're not just a corridor to China but need to be able to do some trade with others to develop their own economy.

I think trade with China might be a bit dangerous for some of the weaker developing countries, they'll just end up importing everything from China because Chinese industry is so competitive

An update on CPEC project progress after late January Meeting. Any idea on who the third-party mentioned on this article means? It could only be either Iran or Afghanistan. More likely Iran perhaps.

Present at the joint working group meeting, Hashmi revealed that both sides expressed satisfaction at the pace of progress that is being achieved on CPEC as a whole and Pakistan and China welcome the third-party participation in line with CPEC's spirit of economic collaboration, shared prosperity and shared gains.

Both sides have agreed to extend the CPEC into third parties, the ambassador said, noting that other workable areas could include mining, agriculture and information technology. The special economic zone can be a platform through which the third-party investment could come in, said the envoy, noting that more efforts will be made to ensure the security and safety of Chinese personnel and projects.

The highlighted texts seems not limted to any specific countries (Afghanistan and Iran). Especially the "third-party investment" could mean Gulf countries.

Afganistan has bountiful natural resources, including a lot of stuff that China would loose access to in a westpac conflict. So yeah, it is entirely in China's interest to have rail connection to Afghanistan and to develop their resources

Thanks.
This seems to be the more viable and plausible scenario in the short term. It makes perfect sense for everyone involved.

Looks like the Ecuadorian right-winger quickly realized his own stupidity.

Russia threatened to substitute Ecuadorian bananas, which account for nine out of ten bananas consumed in the country, with supplies of the yellow fruit from China, India, Egypt, Korea and Thailand.

Two months later, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister made hasty statements that Ecuador will not be sending Soviet weapons to Ukraine via the US, adding that the Andean nation “has a great responsibility and commitment to contribute to the resolution of conflicts in the world through peaceful means and diplomatic instruments.”

This is in addition to Ecuador dictator's recent overtures to China.

Standard right wing US-backed puppet president bows to commercial pressure and signs deal with China.

this is kind of interesting. I wonder if this is something China could possibly do down the line with strategically located spots, where they can provide protection for the country and solve their financial problems through purchase of a smaller piece of land
I think it's depend on who can keep funding longer between Arab + Muslim (+china) funding Egypt vs US + EU(+India) funding Israel. Remember that Egypt has overpopulation with drought depleting arable land. Those spots won't be useful if Egypt collapsed because no one longer fund them.

Egypt right now is in the middle of a huge economic transition. But over the next decade it and Turkey will be a major obstacle to Israel's designs on the region.
Even in Ancient times Israel was often a battleground for the Egyptian and Hittite empires. The current situation where Israel is a major power in the region is an historic anomaly.

I don't think so, Egypt is so heavily reliant on US aids. Things also have changed from many thousands years ago. Egypt was the bread basket of byzantine empire, now they are net import of wheat and food which will keep worsen with climate change.
Also what can Egypt economy transition to?
