...they wouldn't mind the US remaining the world's leader and primacy.
This is an insult to the nature of Chinese people. We want for the time being to lay low, however, it is because we are not yet comprehensively more powerful than the US and we plan to eventually outgrow the US to become the world's most powerful nation, tolerating the primacy of no other country over our own. China would prefer to be left alone to grow because we know that this trajectory leads to a new Pax Sinica, not because we're animals with no pride or ambition, happy to follow others and recognize their authority over us. This type of thinking from you is what leads many Westerners to calm their own nerves believing that the Chinese people would rather overthrow their own government to be a Western lapdog with an easy life than work to build national power. We would be happy to take over without conflict, as the US realizes that it's been outdone on all fronts and time to step down with dignity, but if it won't, then we will be prepared to drag it off its thrown kicking and screaming.

There is a Chinese saying..."know yourself the strength and weakness, and also know the strengths and weakness of you enemy" You will win a war, any time at your choosing!

Actually I think I have my answer to a degree:
I think it's worth keeping any eye on this, since DC elites are getting exasperated with the thought of losing Saudi Arabia to China. The only thing they can really offer is security gurantee and they think Saudi Arabia is willing to throw away its future for that.

I think we will see over the next year (during the run up to the election), how desperate white house gets and how much better they are offers to Saudi Arabia will be.

as for nuclear power, saudis actually want that not necessarily for US nuclear tech, but rather for implicit acceptance of Saudis to actually build NPP (IIRC, that's how someone explained the saudi approach here). After all, how can you possibly expect America to build nuclear plant for you when it cannot even build it for itself?

Saudi: "Give us EUV machine, B2, and F35, we will guard it jealously and not let China anywhere near it, believe us"

good to get closer to Guinea with this railway and port.

Aside from the obvious benefits here, they are also talking with Guinea about a military base IIRC

+ 56% of their bauxite import comes from Guinea, which as you know is really important for Ga
