I was talking about funding. Russia apparently can not fund the entire program 100% all by themselves. That's why they needed India to help fund it.
The Russians say they will go ahead with the PAKFA program in case a deal with India is not reached.
In other words we'll believe in when we see it. Can the FGFA launched from a carrier like the F-35C or VTOL like the F-35B? Nope I don't think so. There are proof, pics, and videos on this you know that right?
So CATOBAR and VTOL make it more ambitious? How so? It just means the program is much larger, which I did admit to. The FGFA wasn't designed for CATOBAR, but it will eventually be made to fly off carriers. And the F-35's VTOL requirement killed other aspects of the F-35, which were termed as design compromise. If the VTOL and CATOBAR did not include design compromises, then that would have made it more ambitious.
We can't rely on what can be seen for the sake of argument when the secrecy in one program is far more than on the other. The F-35 is merely an export bird and forms the low end of the USAF. It's based on export grade electronics and stealth technologies whereas the PAKFA is high end and carries technologies meant for the US 6th gen project. As already revealed by the RNAF, the F-35 and Rafale carry very similar electronics.
Photos and videos will eventually be made available as the program progresses. We will one day see the Izd 30 engine, we will see derivatives of technologies used on PAKFA/FGFA in other aircraft projects, we will see new weapons during future air shows in India and Russia and so on. People were still under the impression that the PAKFA is a fake project made up by the Russians as far as back in Nov 2010, even though it started way back in 2000. We are just going to have to be patient about it.
And you are talking as though everything is okay therefore a crash or a burned engine will NOT hinder the progress of the program, especially a stealth plane program.
You are incorrect in your assumption that I believe the program was not affected. I know any program will be affected by a crash, even the F-35, but not to the extent that it is made out to be.
As far as this forum is concerned, the program has been delayed because of the fire. As far as Russia media reports are concerned, the initially planned production and induction schedule remains unchanged. If the schedule remains unchanged, then what's there to fret about?
Like I told AFB earlier, who cares about the crash if production starts as planned. It only means the program continued without major disruption.
