The fake offer of cease fire in which Georgia claims to be the victim of aggression from South Ossetians.

It´s like one person holding an assault rifle and telling the adversary: "while he keeps shooting the enemy, he says to him: yes, if you stop returning fire at me, i will recognize this as a cease fire, and them i will see what i will do with you."

They really treat Russia as a stupid country don´t?
To think that Russia will accept the position of the bad guy is naive to say the least.


By Utelore - Georgia is setting up defense in depth 15 kilometers from Tbilisi. They are digging into the hills, urban areas in multi layers of defenses. Ready to blow bridges and are digging in while keeping maneuver groups ready. Tens of thousands Georgians are protecting Tbilisi.

Georgia is also keeping small cells of volunteers and special forces in basements ready to undertake small unit and insurgent actions against Russia.
My sources are telling me that Gori still has Georgian troops in the hundreds hidden ready to attack. Georgia will start going after the supply units feeding the russian armour.

I believe the U.S should now start sending in special forces to help this ally...I am not the only one who thinks this way to include U.S military men.

Also Many Georgian commanders believe they will have more than 100,000 troops in two weeks and when and if the Russians leave they will destroy abkasia and ossetia.

Really, Utelore, you think its worth to start world war III because of two separatist provinces of Georgia.
I don´t think USA will choose this path.
Iran is a much more weaker opponent than Russia is and USA has yet to attack Iran.

Attacking Russia is Madnness as Sakassvilli said.
Destroyng Abkhasia will be impossible for Georgia now that Georgia has tryed to humiliate Russia and get Russia
on full war path.

I WOULD NEXT ENCOURAGE RUSSIA TO RECLAIM ALASKA. THEN WE CAN RESOLVE THIS FOR GOOD.

russia is trying to take Georga and Ukrain or the baltics will be next as the russians see that their use of military ability gets them what they want.

Putin remarks also reflected deep anger at Georgia's President Mikhail Saakashvili.

"Of course, Saddam Hussein ought to have been hanged for destroying several Shiite villages," Putin said. "And the incumbent Georgian leaders who razed ten Ossetian villages at once, who ran elderly people and children with tanks, who burned civilian alive in their sheds-these leaders must be taken under protection

THIS STATMENT PROVES THE PUTIN INTENDS ON GOING ALL THE WAY. GEORGIA WILL BE TAKEN BY RUSSIA OR AT LEAST THATS WHAT RUSSIA THINKS

OK Ute calm down Buddy!!

I think everybody realises that trying to induct Georgia and the Ukraine was a very provocative and ambitious move. Talk about the Baltic's is plain scaremongering as they are very obviously settled and safe.

I think the end in Georgia is not far off and my best bet is that the Georgian military will end it themselves and depose Saakashvili. Why? well the writing is on the wall and I guess they could care who calls the shots as long as they come out alive and largely intact.

Must be a bit worrying for Moscow and Tel Aviv though after investing millions in weapons and training, to see the Georgian army crumble so quickly.

You talk as
if only Russia has military bases outside their borders, as
if only Russia has attacked other country when their forces were attacked
and as if
only Russia has peacekeepers forces in other countries.

Since these assumptions aren´t true, i don´t see why USA would enter war with Russia for the sake
of sayng Russia should bow to USA power at any cost.
The cost of making Russia bowing at any cost is fighting a nuclear war.
And there is no reason for that as peace deals are made
in every place and every time.
Calm down man.

Member of the Russian State Duma, Semyon Bagdasarov calls his colleagues for suspension of their vacation and holding an extra meeting of the chamber because of recent events in South Ossetia. According to a Regnum correspondent, the MP said at a press conference in Moscow today, on August 11, members of the Federation Council should also suspend their holidays. “Together we have to hold the meeting and consider the issue of immediate recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia,” the MP said. “At the session, we need to address the president asking for legal status for these unrecognized republics on the meeting,” Bagdasarov believes.

I think that is really only a matter of time. This is now the perfect opportunity for Russia to do what it wanted to do ever since Kosovo's recognition and to do so with out looking like they're just copying the West. They've already compared South Ossetia to Kosovo.

Russia is apparently also moving one of its ship around the port of Poti:

There is not much of a issue of who's right and who's wrong here, it's really just a matter of who's perspective you look at the issue from.
Problem is that Geogia is not powerful enough to stand by it's own legs, yet they still launched this attack, counting to drag US into the conflict, a huge miscalculation.
If it was a big power such as China, Russia or US that started a military action vs a separatist region, it would be much different, as those nations can stand by it's own in any conflict.

Geogian president is the one to blame for the destruction of he's own country tbh.
