WOW! We were right up near 60 degrees F today. Very pleasant.

Spring is around the corner.

We will probably get more snow here in the valley (and a lot more in the mountains), and we will have some very cold nights still, probably our last freeze will be sometime in early to mid-May...but the sun is shining and spring is in the Air!

Sey what? 60F(15.5C)? gadzooks!.. we won't see that anytime soon according to the long range forecast.

Present conditions..

And as you see cold temps shall continue...snow expected this weekend.

Hey! I think I just saw Santa Claus! better break out the Christmas tree!

Holy schmolly! It's that damn groundhog (Groundhog's day) fault for seeing his shadow! It's not six more weeks of winter, it's more like 10 or 12!;):p

Imagine the precedent it will set should she win.

A high school cheerleader has failed in her first bid to force her parents to pay for her education at a private Catholic school.

Rachel Canning left the family home in New Jersey when she turned 18 last autumn – but she is demanding her parents continue to financially support her through college.

A New Jersey family court judge has ruled that her parents Sean and Elizabeth do not have to pay high school tuition, give her a weekly allowance or provide further financial support for attorney fees.

But a decision on whether they should pay for her college tuition was delayed until next month.

Ms Canning stared straight ahead during the hearing in Morristown, as her parents, who had previously described their daughter as ‘spoilt’, repeatedly broke down on the other side of the courtroom.....................

Geez! Talking about being spoiled. But the parents have no one else but themselves to blame. They were the ones who spoiled their little princess. It is the responsibility of the parents to teach their kids how to behave and how to take care of themselves. Apparently, these parents have done one of that.

Why are the parents breaking down? They should be righteously angry with her. Then again it's probably a sign of how overly soft they are.

It is not always the parent's fault, there are just some kids that cannot be saved no matter how hard you try, people who scored high in psychopathy tendency assessment, for example. There is actually a whole forum on this.

Judging from the parent's breakdown I would not think this is an isolated incident but probably just the last straw in a history of consistently bad behaviour from her.

These days other kids have a powerful influence on kids. So it doesn't matter what the parents teach their kids sometimes when they want acceptance from other kids more. I have a friend who just told me about what happened with his daughter. One morning the two were arguing about something and the daughter oddly mentioned suing him. He didn't know what she was talking about until he saw that story in the news later in the day. Kids normally aren't interested in current affairs especially his daughter. So it must've been talked about among her friends. There was a day parents would slap their kids in the mouth talking like that. These days a stranger can get you arrested just by the slightest accusation of abuse even when later it's proven completely false.

Has the price of gas been rising in the area that you live? It has for us...

The most popular fuel unleaded plus which is a 10% ethanol blend is running from $3.29 to $3.44 a gallon.. this from a low of $2.69(Unleaded plus) on December 17th.

Regular & premium unleaded is .10 to .40 cents higher a gallon depending on where you purchase your gas.

Unleaded plus a 10% ethanol blend in Eastern Iowa is ranging from $2.69 to $2.97 a gallon.

That's quite a price difference for our area.
