Yes, its very sad, on a happier note I feel good knowing that you're there, as I have a daughter, granddaughter, grandson, and son in law in the good old Czech Republic this evening...my Son in Law is Reg Army, stationed in Germany, and they are one a little vacation seeing Europe. So if you meet a Yankee named Kristen, that would be her...brat

You should've gone with them, AFB, to meet me in the pub I go almost every working day (but I don't stay for too long as I want to be logged on to the SDF at eight pm at the latest :)

We got this Daylight Saving Time yesterday ... I vaguely remembered there was some difference between here and the US and now I realized the difference was not that small :) as in the US, you'll get the DST only next week:

I also remember Arizona and some counties in Indiana (?) weren't interested in "daylight savings" :)

EDIT
I wasn't sure about the last sentence, found this:

when it's all explained, including exceptions from the exceptions :)

Actually we in the US have been on Daylight savings time since March 9th 2014.

As pointed out bt jura only Arizona , Hawaii, & eight western counties of the state of Indiana do not observe DST.. Also the overseas territories of Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, United States Virgin Islands do not observe DST.

I wish that I could have, they have had a great time, and just traveled around Europe, seeing all the historic sights, and I would have loved to have met you, as I'm sure they would have as well. I'm certain that together we could have solved most of the worlds problems, to almost everyones satisfaction.............there's always going to be the cranky few.. I am glad that you join us, your insight and perspective add depth to our discussions, particularly in-light of all that is going on. My daughter was impressed with the Berlin wall and seeing all these places has given her a perspective that I'm sure she lacked before.

I believe they were in France yesterday, but we had a new grand-son born on Thursday the 27th, so I have been a little out of touch, come see us here in central obamastan, I'm sure we could find some interesting sights as well. I'm not sure we still have our two Mig-29s, but Natasha first flew nearly two years ago at Christmas, the outfit it belonged to was called "Red Air" they changed their name to be more PC, but did fly dissimular combat missions with US forces, LOL. They did "offer me the back seat in their Mig-21", if I were able to be there when they flew it next,,,,, but, that was one of those friendly offers with probably two dozen lined up when that time would come, still it was a very nice offer, and one that I would have loved to have taken them up on. Have a great day, and welcome once again to Sino-Defense. brat

Thanks, AFB, but I'll tell you the simple truth: I prefer to sit in the pub I mentioned in #894 here :) But what I read on the SDF can be useful in that pub, as I'm asked navy-related questions from time to time, after something appeared in daily press of a land-locked country :) like, How can it be that a warship is propelled by electricity?? (related to the DDG-1000, not the New Mexico battleship LOL) or, What's so special about that US carrier?? (related to the CVN-78, of course) ... and as you can imagine, those questions have to answered right here, right now! :)

I want to go visit Prague one day. That's on my list of places to visit. I have heard from friends it's one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Compared to other major European cities the infrastructure was relatively left alone in WWII.

how are the people there? I have to admit I don't know any Czechs personally .. are you guys pretty friendly folks? LOL
