Tomorrow marks 42 years since I joined the US Navy. Wow..
Time flies! As always, thanks for your service to the Republic my friend.

And NO things were not better in 1971..other than morals and they were on the steep decline...and a few other things.
Yep, my friend, things have changed a lot.

A lot more conviences and neat technology now. But the trade off has overall not been good for our country.

The break down in the family, the loss of moral values, the wavering faith, and the PC BS are all something I'd give back in an instant and trade all of that technology and convienence in exchange if I could. But...we cannot.

We can only work to revive those good things in our country in the spirit (IMHO) of II Chron 7:14..

BTW, I was 15 going on 16 in 1971.

.

Thank you Jeff..And we do live in a Republic..

2 Chronicles 7:14

King James Version (KJV)

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Amen..

After a very violent weekend several years ago in Chicago a Black policeman was asked.. why are these young people so violent? He said "they lack a moral compass. Poor parenting, bad friends and most of all "No Jesus".

Running would definitely be bad.

Either the mother was in front of the cub relative to the path (in which case she had already passed), or behind the cub, in which case if the cub had crossed the trail and you came in between the cub and the mother, that would also be bad.

Certainly glad you were not attacked and were able to get by there okay.
no one is more glad then me.
in retrospective she was likely behind me. That bike path was once a railroad line, that particular section is built up land. The condo complex being in a low meadow the wooded area also being at a lower elevation. The trail standing as a vertical divide where the rail line once crossed, Made of earth. Its steep but if kids do it as a short cut I am sure both mother and cub could as well. I figure they likely had just feed on trash in the dumpsters and then were heading to a small den nearby. I just had the bad luck of walking up when I did. But my actions likely told mother I had no interest in the cub.

Just a curious (funny) question: if "we" produce some "gloves" with three long blades on each glove (like Wolverine), do we have a chance to win the wolf or several wolves (4 or 5)?

Only in your dreams my man... but you would get an award....post-humesly. brat

August 24th 1971. How many of you gents were born yet? I wonder how many of our members could handle living in 1971?

And NO things were not better in 1971..other than morals and they were on the steep decline...and a few other things.

This list applies to Americans and those that live in the west..Not sure about the rest of the World.

1) No cell phones
2) No PCs or other electronic gadgets.
3) No digital nothing.
---No VCR, DVDs, Blue Ray, CDs,MPs, Ipad etc etc, etc.
4) Most folks still had BW TV.
5) Very few folks had microwaves
6) Mommie and daddy did not drive you everywhere you went. We had to walk or take a bus.
7) No howling females..my fellow Iowans cut loose in the video below.

8) No hugs for just seeing someone or saying good bye.
9) Sports for kids were for real. None of these leagues that do not keep score.
9b) Kids were not a bunch of spoiled sissies like they are now.
9C) Birthday parties were for little kids not anyone over 10-12 and only a few friends & family attended...least not in the hood.
9D) No stupid balloons & cake at work because some schmoe had a birthday.
8) Nobody wore their pants below their ass. I hate that.
9) Eating out was a big deal..even fast food.
10) SUVs were trucks in disguise.
11) No political correctness.

In 1978 my fathers phone connection was of the shared connection variety. That is the line was shared with several other parties. One was able to determine who the call was for because each household was allocated a alphabetical letter which the phone would ring in morse. There was no way of stopping the other parties to listening in to the conversation.

I had a really nice Browning Compound bow for a long time, but after my surgeries I sold it.

If you were going to go on such a hunt, I would not recommend hunting wolves, particularly if you're looking for a pack, with a bow of any type. Unless you were accompanied by someone with a good semi-automatic rifle.

Jeff a little while back you were engaged in a discussion about hunting wild boar/pigs with rifles I have a few friends who also hunt wild boar ,but they use dogs to track and corner the animal and then they move in and kill the animal with their knife

Well, most folks use dogs on the feral pigs and hogs. But, I am not into the catch them, or knife them. When they have them, their tusks are very sharp and can do some damage, and they are very prone to leaving nasty infections. Shooting them is what I recommend...but your dogs have to be well trained and obey when the time comes.

In the US we called that a party line. We had one when I was a kid. Party lines disappeared in the US by the mid '60s.
