Real life thread

went to my friend's wedding last night. man i was so glad for them and to be there for such a special event. i was having too much to drink, it was totally awesome. this morning i woke up and realized i took photos i don't remember taking, and numbers i don't have recollection of. and also 2 new friend requests on facebook. lol when homer said alcohol is the cause and solution to all of men's problems, it's so true. there's nothing alcohol can't solve.

I stopped drinking on Super Bowl Sunday January 26th 2003. Glad I did. I'm redeemed.

In another thread Brat posted this.

Home Port kids, time to get her back into her dungarees, and take off the Sunday go to meetin duds...she needs to get back to work. brat

She is now the Flag Ship and lynchpin of PLAN!

In my church all ushers are required to wear suit/coat and tie to every Sunday service. Of course Big Daddy is an usher. Yesterday after church we went straight to

with our church clothes on to pick up some vittles for our Sunday dinner. When we were leaving I heard a kid behind me say to his dad;

"Dad..why is that guy dressed like that?"

His dad says..

"I don't know.. maybe he's a priest or something."

Ahem.. no slight to my fellow Iowans however most of the male of the species here dress rather slovenly in my opinion.

I remember when I was a kid growing up in Cincinnati.. my dad wore a coat and tie/suit ..with a fedora everywhere up until 1960 or so. No foolin'. Yep even in the summer time. Sometimes in the summer he'd just where a withe shirt and a tie...of course always sportin' his fedora.

Fedora = hat..

His hats were much like the one below except brown in color.

Wolves are ruthless, efficient killing machines...and they do it for sport.

This incident happened not too far from where my in-laws live, about 300 miles from here. Of these 176 dead sheep, one was mostly eaten, 10 were mauled to death, and 165 SHEEP WERE ASPHIXIATED by the wolves. Most died from being jammed together upon each other in their panic.

Idaho has a wolf hunt season now and it has been expanding. In some counties it is year round. In most counties it runs from August of one year through the end of June of the next.

Wyoming and Montana also now have wolf hunts.

IMHO, these animals should be on an open season, no limit hunt list. No license required where the State or County pays a bounty for their hide. They are doing great harm to the commerical livestock industry, they have decimated the deer and elk herds, they take pleasure in running down and killing any domestic dog they see...and they will attack humans.

I was checking up on my mother at her house and someone did a hit and run on my car. The guy was trying to do U-turn via the driveway which my car was parked next to on the street and I was literally watching it live on the security cameras as it happened. I saw it coming because I could see he turned too soon into the driveway and his side went into my rear corner bumper. He was stuck. Every move he made I could see my car rocking back and forth. I ran out of the house to confront the idiot and cursed at him. He kept on saying sorry while I was writing his license plate number on my arm and then he took off. Looks like he just scratched up my bumper but repainting cars can cost a lot money more than replacing parts. I called the police and of course he told me the facts that I could've guessed where since nothing serious happened and the guy took off, nothing is really going to happen unless my insurance company goes after the vehicle owner for the costs. Since the guy took off without being identified, he basically got away with a hit and run. That's what I hate these days. People can basically commit any low-level crime that doesn't involve injury or death and they'll get away with it. Most likely the guy was drunk or didn't have a driver's license and/or insurance which is why he took off. The guy dropped off someone before he hit my car and I think that person lives on the street. The irony is if the authorities do little or nothing because that guy most likely saw the police come to take the report, the criminal will know he got away with it which doesn't do anything to deter crime.

Where did this happen?

I would take it up with higher level police, or talk to the press.

If you saw it happen, confronted the guy and saw his face, got his license number...then the Police have all the info they need to find the guy and cite him. Particularly if your damage is higher than any small claims court. The guy did not just cause a civil problem, he broke the law. A person like that will also "hit and run," if he injures or kills someone and needs to feel the weight of what he is doing before that happens.

Sorry you had to experience this...and particularly that you had a police officer who would not do their job.

This is California where the jails are full so they let off lesser offenders. There was a news story about how some counties aren't even bothering with misdemeanors because they just clog the system so they only concentrate on serious crimes. If the guy was driving without a license, nothing is really going to stop him from driving again. If the guy turned out to be an illegal alien, I bet he wouldn't be deported. My car look like it handled the rough ride so it ended up just being just scratches on the bumper. The officer said they would go through the numbers but he told me the truth that since nothing serious resulted, not much was going to happen.
