This is California where the jails are full so they let off lesser offenders. My car look like it handled the rough ride so it ended up just being just scratches on the bumper. The officer said they would go through the numbers but he told me the truth that since nothing serious resulted, not much was going to happen.

we lived in California twice, down south in the San Bernadino area (Fontana) while owrking for BEchtel Power, and up north in the San Jose area while working for GE. Even then, in the 1980s, this was the case.

It's sad, and it is not right...but, as this thread indicates...it is also life.

Sorry you had to experince that side of it, and glad apparently that your vehicle was not badly damaged.

My mother lives about 50 miles north of San Jose. I reported to the police about some drug dealing happening across the street from an elementary school near where my mother lives which is suppose to be especially illegal. Of course nothing happened. Then on the news I see the officer in charge of the handling all that type of drugs and prostitution crimes for the county was arrested for drug dealing and pimping prostitutes. There was a whole hour devoted to that story on the news magazine show 48 Hours on CBS.

I reported to the police about some drug dealing happening across the street from an elementary school near where my mother lives which is suppose to be especially illegal. Of course nothing happened. Then on the news I see the officer in charge of the handling all that type of drugs and prostitution crimes for the county was arrested for drug dealing and pimping prostitutes.

There should be an especially hot corner of hell reserved for that one.

I did not serve in either branch but I'm making sure my children respect and appreciate all the armed services for all that they do.

We're all very greatfull for your service bd, and kwai, and any of our other forum brothers foreign or domestic, but particularly proud of your service to our country, and your selfless contribution to our forum as well, my own Dad's funeral was 11 years ago today, 21 gun salute, and early morning F-16 flyover, which I missed as the funeral director's wife scheduled the flyover for the same time as a school assembly for 9/11/2001 anniversary, the principal later thanked me, and I asked him for what, he said for scheduling your Dad's flyover at the same time as our assembly, I normally love to share, but that's something that would have made me feel better if it had occurred while we were graveside, but the gun salute and taps were pretty hard anyway, blessings to you guys, and thanks to all of our fine forum members for being here everyday, I missed Sino Defense while it was down. brat

Well, the wife and I are off to Houston in a couple of hours. Driving down for my annual big check-up at MD Anderson in Houston. Hard to believe it was 3 years ago now that I came back from there after seven months of very major, radical surgery to save my life that had me in the hospital there fro over three months, followed by over three months moreof very intensive rehabilitation down there.

We'll be there a week for the check-ups and a conference we attend there each year, off a week (which we will spend with our sister in law, my late brothers wife at the ranch northwest of Dallas), and then back to Houston for several days of stereo-tactic proton radiation treatement. It's like 3 days and all out patient and directed at three small cancer spots in my hip bones that can be treated now so they will not bother me for the next 30 years...which is hopefully the rest of my life.

Anyhow, will be checking in over th next three weeks as I can

Have a safe trip down there Jeff. I pray it'll be an uneventful visit and everything goes well with the checkup and the radiation treatment. Don't forget your laptop etc so you can keep us posted!
