there's no need to worry about getting resources for building islands in south china sea, my old man did tell me that because these islands will be major strategic positions, resources will be nearly unlimited.

there's no need to worry about getting resources for building islands in south china sea, my old man did tell me that because these islands will be major strategic positions, resources will be nearly unlimited.
It's possible PLA Navy and marine will retake those bases if it comes into shooting war like Paracels. Therefore those reef building by whichever nation will come in handy for the military victor because it lays already the foundation for future occupation. I foresee a large PLA base like US base Diego Garcia near the Indian continent, a super base.
I do hope Vietnam or Philippine start it first (I know it's bad, but I think it will happen), and China will claim it during "counter attack" as "self defense". Would be interesting the whole place turn into super base for China military as staging post.
Too shallow for subs and too far to be defended properly by 2nd artillery. Good enough if the PLA can built a huge super base there for marines, expeditionary forces and as refuelling station for specific mission task force.

I dont see a super base in the south china sea will be necessary, there are already number of modified reefs that have large airfields near that area. a super base as a staging post is a bit vunlerable to enemy attacks dont you think?

Okaty guys, two things.
First: SD Rules forbid talk of war, or advocating for it. So, port_08, stop posting about other nations building their own bases and then the PRC taking them by force so they can build a SCS Superfortress.
Second: yuxiaochen, enough of what your father "says." That is hearsay, and though a little of that is unavoidable, you continue to "leak" out more information from a source that cannot be documented in the least. We take pride at SD in being professional. Such sources for information are not professional, as I said, they are hearsay.
Nothing wrong with stating "your" opinion...just make sure that is how it is explained.
Besides, as you said, this info about creating a second base would be highly confidential to the PLAN and the PRC...even secret or top secret. You would already be putting your father at risk by even by mentioning it at all. Then you go on and say it will be in a mountain? Do you realize (if what you say is even true) how you are allowing other nation's intelligence to narrow down the location by doing this? How easy it is to determine who you are posting on the internet and learn who your father is...making him a target for the PRC intelligence personnel and that of other nations?
Very ill advised at the best. Which, quite frankly, in my mind, calls the whole of the story into question.

Looks like they dredged and combined two of the harbors into one. Dredging material is then being used to fill in between the far end of runway and the islet. Wonder if they plan on constructing air support facilities on that reclaimed land.
