Maybe but build to Nikolayev Shipyard and they need plans for build ... all the more big modern Soviet MSC are build to Nikolayev Kuznetsov, Kiev, Moskva, CG Slava, Kara also ! Kirov build to Leningrad.
The plans will still also be in Russian archives. But you don't explain why you think China needs the Ulyanovsk plans.

I never really put much thought into that, but would have always believed they do this via some kind of capacitor. Is that more impractical than large flywheels, or what's the issue here?
Flywheels and super capacitors are both possible ways of storing the electrical energy for the required time. When the decisions were taken in the development of EMALS the flywheel options was the best but developments in super capacitors are going very fast and it is possible that China has made the other choice.

What China need is her problem saying only what is known and what they could use eventualy for build a CATOBAR possible nuclear now with China we have need a crystal ball ! ...

With any other country we know yet since long time majority of infos about this new CV with essential specifications, we have yet some infos enough precise, an idea for the future Russian CVN build for 15 years minimum...

The official word has been spoken. I'm curious as to what the members of this forum think about this little tidbit;

Is this the truth or just a ploy to keep us China watchers including the US DoD in the dark on the capabilities of this ship? And if there is no catapult what happened to China's research and development on catapults, both steam and EMAL, in general? Was the reported development of catapults a smokescreen or just fan boi dreams?
The spokesperson is referring to the carrier we see currently being built in Dalian, which we've always expected to have a ski jump. Whether the rumoured carrier being built in Jiangnan will also be a ski jump is a bit more open ended.

EDIT: Point already addressed. What I get for posting before reading through all the replies.

No need to guess, JNCX 002 has just started... work will begin in Spring.

IMO, watch out for Dry Dock No.4 in JNCX where previously the aircraft carrier demo model was spotted. It is also the same dock where a new large mobile crane was built recently.

Those pictures DO NOT show the 002...particularly the last one. That is a picture of a mockup/demonstrator build from years ago that had no bearing on, or part in the actuall 002.

Please, ensure that you post things that are accurate...that you KNOW are accurate, or post them first in the Ask Anything Thread and get people to respond to them so you know what they are.

But do not make assertions like this, posting such a thing as if though it is a part of 002 when it is not.

Icloo, the same goes for you.

Thanks.

Can that crane lift 1600 tons or weighs 1600 tons?

If it can lift 1600 tons it sounds about right for a crane design to lift carrier modules also JNCX is the likely place for 002 and that dry dock is the likely location for 002

The jigsaw makes sense so far, let's see if they will start, the commissioning of the crane fits the time line for carrier construction

I say this because the Rosyth gallantry crane called Goliath built in China shipped to Scotland followed the same time line, not that they have anything to do with each other

Can China build two carriers at once? Do they need to?

The answer to both is yes, but will they?

Ok 2016 just got really really interesting !!!
