I don't think so. To me he was pointing out that China has one CV and maybe building another. The US has 10 active CVNs..
I do wish hardware would answer these post.
Yes, I acknowledge that US had 10 CV. In conventional or any type of warfare, no one could hope to really win US at all. But that doesn't meant that by deploying catapult on China aircraft carrier will not change anything. I mean, you need to start somewhere right?
And I don't think China wanted to go all out against US. The thing here is, with a weapon, you can deter others from attacking even if your enemy is much stronger or greater, but you would show them that you can bite back, and your bite can be dangerous, although not enough to kill, but at least enough to hurt.
I know this because I can relate it to my home country, Singapore. Singapore is tiny (I believe all of you know it already), but we do have a standing army, in confrontation with Indonesia or Malaysia or basically most of ASEAN nations, I do not think we can actually stand too long. And by Hardware's theory, we might as well cut away those spending because we cannot change the equation. But we didn't, because if there really is a war, we WILL die, but at least we can bleed you too. And that is the exact strategy to use when stronger adversaries find it not worth while to attack you because they will be hurt too.
(PS. I really hate it when everyone is all excited about something, then someone came in with a wet blanket and toss it over everyone's head. I mean if there is a good reason for those words... explain it fully rather than a short little sentence like he was enlightened or what. Seriously.)
