I found this on sina.com and they claim it to be catapult being developed by China.

Photos and rumours about that place has been circulating for years.

Just saying it isn't something recently discovered

Those photos have been circulating around for a few years I think. It is possible they are EMALS? absolutely they could be! but regardless of whether these exact photos are or aren't, I have absolutely no doubt that China is at least at some stage of EMALS R & D... perhaps even in the beginning stages of prototype testing.
Can they deploy one tomorrow? highly doubtful. 10 years from now? quite possible. 20 years? most definitely.

The article is most likely exaggerating since how many exclusive photos have been published by foreign sources. All pics have basically been seen on the internet first.

China has just passed a new anti-espionage law early this month. Unfortunately the defination of spy does include anyone taking photo of military asset from outside military base etc where it is declared prohibitive to take photo and video.

We will see less photo from wall climbers from now onwards.

Not that I like this piece of information, but it fits sadly quite nicely to the overall lack of information we receive since months: no info on any new PLAAF regiment besides running production lines for both the J-10B, J-16, maybe still JH-7A ... nothing !?

Anyway thanks for telling us about this bad news or at least explaining it.

Terrible news shocking and not happy but not surprised no would accept photos of military installations and I have been surprised at the leaks and photos so far some of them clearly showing people taking photos out in the open

China has actually been very open with regards to photos

Does this extend to naval shipyards?
