When I saw the news, the article of most western media state that "China rescues ships from pirates, omits Indian role" I quickly went to search the Chinese articles and they all mentioned Indian cooperation. The hilarious thing is that new articles that are published today no longer mention "omit Indian role"

those western media couldn't resist to do some China bashing anytime they have a chance. too typical.

I don't know if this is a bad Google translation. Anyone know about these mini-subs? Are they Russian or Chinese?

Bad google translation. I use google translate on a Russian site and also went to a Chinese site, it states that China was interested in Russian mini-sub, but there was no context in the Chinese site. Only the title and the picture

List of program offer to the civilian company some of the item are very interesting like non conventional(non acoustic) detection of submarine combine or acoustic detection combine with big data. Another one is the concept of a floating base of more than a million tons.

These projects are initiated in the form of a call for tender and open to Chinese companies. The Chinese navy has also published 38 classified information related to these topics, interested parties can go to the six Chinese cities (Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Xi'an and Shenzhen) to consult them according to the procedure.

Here are some (not exhaustive) of these projects:

* Two types of stealth coat for aircraft engine

Radar wave absorbing coating:
- Thickness ≤ 1.0mm
- Absorbent ≤ 1dB at 1GHz, ≤ 2dB at 4GHz, -6dB ≤ 8 ~ 18GHz
- Accession ≥ 10MPa
- Resistance at 300 ° C for 100h

Stealth infrared coating:
- Thickness ≤ 80μm
- Emission rate IR ≤ 0.5 to 3 ~ 5μm
- Resistance to 1000 ° C during 100h

* Anti-knock coating for surface building

Characteristic:
- Density <1,2g / cm3
- Oxygen index> 28
- Allowing to improve anti-knock performance by 20% compared to a steel plate

* Reinforced nanophase steel for surface and submarine ships

Characteristic:
- Elasticity limit R e ≥
1000MPa - Low temperature resistance -20 ℃ KV2 ≥ 100J, -84 ° CCKV2 ≥ 47J, -84 ℃ FA ≥ 50%

* Floating maintenance and service base

* Precise marine docking technologies for multifunction blocks

* Heavy oil aviation rotary engine

* Non-acoustic underwater detection technology

* Flying machine VTOL all electric

Characteristic:
- Ground> 250kg
- Autonomy> 4h
- Lateral wind resistance <14m / s

* Ship's cyberattack defense with native equipment

* Graphene based aeronautical lubricant

Characteristic:
- Working temperature between -54 ° C and 175 ° C
- Torque at low temperature ≤ 2N • m (-54 ° C)
- Resistance to lateral wind <14m / s

* Data processing of marine targets by Big Data

* Acoustic detection and recognition by Big Data

* Aircraft health management based on the network of fiber-optic sensors

* Turbo-Pod Cooler

* Three-dimensional intelligent human-machine interface for submarine

* Maintenance-free high-reliability battery for life support equipment

Characteristics:
- Voltage 10,8 to 14,4V
- Capacity> 3,5Ah
- Size <80 x 40 x 43mm
- Weight <250g
- Service life> 3 years
- Degradation of capacity <2% per year

One can see through the list of pre-study projects that the Chinese navy is trying to reduce its backlog in logistical support and in the aeronautical field.

Apart from a (good) part of the research focusing on aviation technologies, whether it is for drones or on board aircraft, interesting topics have also been identified around the base of refueling and floating maintenance, as well as those for Submarine forces.

The VLFOB concept in basin testing.

This allows us to see the post-2020 focus of the Chinese navy, which aims for a more comprehensive, permanent and less dependent presence on overseas port infrastructure.

All this naturally relies on airborne forces on board which weigh more and more heavily in the balance of maritime and aeronautical vectors.

To be continued.

PLAN officers are so young. The DDG's Captain, a PLA Navy Commander, is also awful young.
And that ain't a good thing at all. But what you can expect after such expansion. 20 years from now on for PLAN to mature probably.

That's a good point that's often forgotten I must add. Well picked up @A.Man

It's kind of relative -- I think his rank is quite suited to his age, and saying he is "so young" is more a reflection of how capable such a ship is in relation to decades past, where the combat capability of something like 052D would be a prized commodity only for the most experienced officer to take up.

Also, age is also not necessarily reflective of competency or experience, which I think is what you're getting at. I think a younger officer today would probably have as much if not more seafaring experience and technical competency than an older officer in the Navy twenty or thirty years ago, which is a reflection of the limitations of education, training and these sort of blue water exercises back then.

At staff positions, sure. In the work - that doesn't go this way. Ask anyone who served their time aboard naval vassel (like I did and you haven't) and the answer will be the same. You get older, you see stuff, you get smarter I must say.

Stop making up stuff like youngsters at the helm are something good. Well, it isn't. It's the main point for PLAN weakness right now with the build up. Higher ups know this. But you've got some likes from some old salts who post and upvote anything that's compared to normal outside view here so I won't be interfering anymore in this subject.

I served and that's my voice.
