Hi,
do this kind of ship usually go with escort ships around, or it sail at its own
With self defence system install on it.

Mostly on their own, but of course, we've seen them follow PLAN SAG elements occasionally. It's the same as the US sending RC-135s or SURTASS ships close to Chinese waters. They won't get shot at so there's no need to escort them.

Apart from the lacking need for protection there's also the matter that as SIGINT hulls it can be counterproductive sending escorts that muddy the electromagnetic environment. These ships are designed to measure and pick up on emissions from their targets, any interference in this regard is a problem.

Apparently Huludao is also involved in the construction of the SSKN, apart from Jiangnan.

Either that, or that both Huludao and Jiangnan are building something else, possibly submarine-related.

(Disclaimer: I do see @勤劳朴实罗素历 as a reliable source of information when coming to naval-related affairs. This includes the papers on the potential upper hull shape of the 096 SSBN, which was first posted by him last month.)
