Err this could just be shoddy reporting... but...

Has anyone actually confirmed if the radar isn't AESA? Because there are a number of AESA radars which are put on rotating platforms (SAMPSON, and the EF-2000's AESA whose name escapes me), and something could be similar the ZDK-03s radar...
Just saying, but it's probably a case of bad reporting.

i think the pictures of the radome clearly show that it's non-rotating
you can see the triangular phased array from the outline of the ellipsoid
btw, does any have any cartoons or real pictures of the hardware for the antenna

thanks

I was talking about the ZDK-03, not the KJ-2000.

Banned Idiot
zdk-03 may not included Chinese equivalent of JTIDS,this is highly classified equipment.has it fell into the US,it could allow US (or India) to "read" it in real time.
to date , JTIDS is still consider highly classified equipment, and outside of NATO, few countries are allowed to purchased JTIDS.

Can anyone tell if this is a PS? It supposedly shows a Y-8 carrying a KJ-2000 AESA... Which would indicate the PLAAF isn't waiting for the availability for more Il-76 or Y-20s to convert to KJ-2000.
Regardless it's probably a PS.

Just for funsies, here's a land based AESA which I think is part of the HQ-9 land based system.

It is very similar to the Israeli Green Pine system, used in conjunction with their Arrow BMD system.

sorry, then i think it rotates, i think someone earlier mentioned
that you can tell by the stripe orientation, some pictures have it pointing fwd and others have it to the side
the ZDK-03 sure looks the E-3 Sentry that rotates with a rotary coupler

That pic does look off for some reason but there are Y-8s with dishes. Didn't they just sell them to Pakistan?

Yeah, but that was ZDK-03, the rotating version. That (probable ps) pic shows a KJ-2000 style one... if it's real it has some interesting implications for the medium term future of the Il-76 based KJ-2000.

Yes -- what I was interested in was if the ZDK-03 used a mechanically rotating AESA radar, because the article I put up in post 548 says ZDK-03 has AESA...
