another photo on this.

They also have the Z-8 AEW project and a Y-7 AEW project. We could see all of them somehow end up on future carrier or maybe the helos will end up on a future LPH.

Are these AWACS even useful on a modern battlefield anymore? It seems the U.S. is moving toward a distributed early warning system rather than a centralized one.

Some picture of what is apparently a Y-7 balance beam. Will host image later. The original Y-7 prototype or a PS?

i believe it is real, but it was just used as a test bed for balance beam project or something like that. It's not going to enter service from what I know. The Y-7 AEW project is centered around a rotating disc like E-2.

About the Ka-31 deal:

Rosoboronexport delivered Ka-31 helicopters to China

24.11.2010
Text: RusNavy.com
Photo: Ka-31. ru.wikipedia.org
Representative of Rosoboronexport which is the state intermediary company in arms export and import reported about delivery of Russian radar surveillance helicopters Ka-31 to China during press-conference at Airshow China 2010 held in Nov 16-21 in Zhuhai, informs Aviation Explorer.

We recall that Rosoboronexport's deputy director general Alexander Mikheev said at international exhibition HeliRussia-2010 held in Moscow in May 2010 that the contract provides delivery of nine Ka-31 helicopters to China.

Ka-31 helicopters are made by JSC Kamov which is a member of Helicopters of Russia holding. The onboard radar is capable to detect and track up to 20 targets simultaneously at the distance up to 150 km (aircrafts) and up to 285 km (surface ships). These helicopters are in service with Russian Navy; 9 were exported to India under a $207-mln contract.

Interesting, very interesting, but the number of NINE was posted at Huitong page about a deal of Ka-28 - in 2009 -, ... and then ... nine (Ka-28) and nine (Ka-31), or only nine (Ka-31)?

I think it's posted somewhere in the helicopter or the naval helicopter thread, but it's for both 9 Ka-28s and 9 Ka-31s if I remember correctly.
