geez, I don't know what the obsession is over whether or not Pakistan can buy Eurofighter. If Ger_mark said he watched it on the news that Schroeder and Merkel said typhoon will not be sold to Pakistan, he most likely did
I agree with the above statement.

Even Pakdef and PDF are not discussing this topic, so why is it discussed excessively here ?

The news about Pak buying EF must have been for very- long-term plan (2015-16), and not an immediate purchase.

Thus, I believe this topic as of now does not merit to be discussed.

No, the question is how Germany or anyone else is going to stop Britain selling its own batch of Typhoons to another country, as it is proposing to do with the Saudi deal.

Sheesh, is there a case of collective myopia going around the forum? :p

FuManChu agreed.

I think Ger_Mark is just making it up as he goes along...in fact
every defence forum not just sinodefence he posts he repeats
the same old mantra " Germany won't sell to Pakistan "...

Here you go Mr ger_mark read below for a recent german-pakistan
defence deal

The Pakistan army has finalised an order from Germany for the EMT LUNA short-range battlefield reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition UAV, according to the Jane's Defence Weekly.

hindu.com ...i somehow don't think that is a pakistani forum

Ok i'm not going to post anymore on this topic of Germany supplying
Pakistan etc because clearly some people here have issues with Pakistani's
because of their experiences on other forums and i'm really not interested
in getting involved in flame wars

PDF is THE most active forum for Pakistani defence. If its not there, then please trust me, its Nowhere.

So I believe, that we should not discuss this topic any further.

Anyway, there was hardly any mention of it on the Pakistani media (I follow it), and Pakdef forum also. This proves that it is probably a Long-Term deal (2015-16 timeframe) and not immediate.

Pak is intensely engaged in Blk 60 F-16s, JF-17 and possibly J-10 as of now. Thus, the proposal for Eurofighters is not likely to be discussed for a reasonable time now.

Pakistan is indeed evaluating/purchasing EMT LUNA uavs , it has been confirmed by satribune.com .

Thanks arjun i always find that the business pages are more reliable than
'investigative' newspaper websites and web forums.

I would strongly suggest that business runs
the world therefore if you follow the money you'll never go wrong :)

Every German defense export has to be approved by the parlament, so there would be some news in any german site, eh ? or at least in any forum... but there is nothing! And why is not even EMT Penzberg mentioning this deal ?
I remember this started with an article posted on PDF in wich a Pakistani minister said they were interested in Luna, within this article they said that its being tested in Pakistan and they were displaying an EMT picture of Luna in Afghanistan...
Posting links to such dubious Pakistani and Indian sites don't prove anything for me
hindu.com and pakistanpapers.com .... :nono:

Janes Defence Weekly reported on the Luna to Pakistan deal on March-07/2006; here is the sample:

Pakistan opts for European UAVs
Pakistan is acquiring two types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from foreign suppliers to enhance its surveillance capabilities, while continuing local development efforts. The army...

We are aware that Janes is perhaps the most credible defence-related resource next to official government statements, correct?

Now I'm going to do some inferences here, because "Luna" isn't physically written in either article I posted, I will take some news from as far back as 2005. And here is the

Now unless someone actually does post the entire Janes article; we will leave the Luna news as ambigious. Because there are considerably strong chances that the Luna is in the article somewhere (I used the search system on Janes and typed Luna...and look what

Regarding the submarines, I have a source from a

newspaper; you may use babelfish to translate it, but here is an interesting sample from the article:
The Marlin project answers in a precise way an official request of Pakistan which wants, by acquiring 3 to 5 buildings, to continue its effort of equipment after the purchase of three Agosta submarines in France in 1994 per 820 million euros. The Spaniards and the Germans are already on the rows.
And here is a quote from the Janes article which followed a little bit after La-Tribune's reports;
It is understood that the Pakistan Navy, which decommissioned all four of its ageing Hangor-class submarines on 2 January, is now planning to acquire three to five additional modern boats for delivery from 2013-14.

La Tribune reports that German (Howaldtswerke Deutsche-Werft) and Spanish (Navantia) submarine builders have also been asked to submit proposals to meet the requirement.
Regarding the Eurofighter news, I believe it is highly premature and official negotiations for such an aircraft (if they will occur) will not happen before 2009; the same applies to the 3-5 submarine requirement.
