The Badminton Men's Doubles final between China and Chinese Taipei is at 1 set all. Now into the final set. Man this match is finely balanced on a razor's edge!
I think the Chinese pair was actually the better pair here despite losing

They pair lost one point (or two I should say due to the point system) because they wasted their challenge like a retard and ended up not having a challenge when they actually needed it

Also some really bad calls by the umpire for serving height

They stayed way more calm than the previous pair at Tokyo who lost their nerves

Worst thing about this loss is we will have to tolerate the insufferable DPP scum and gloating about this. I need a little break from all these close gold medal losses. Hopefully our luck improves.

Why stop there? Sports is inherently unfair and genetics+money= medals. Is it fair that third world countries with 1/10 the resources have to compete against kids trained from a young age with professional nutritionist/trainers? Even beyond just money look at the skin colour of top level track runners, should that be banned too?

If she has not broken any rules and is born naturally as a female, who are you to judge what the IOC have decided as allowed? Look at how Zhang ziyu is absolutely destroying u18 womens basketball due to her monsterous height, entirely due to genetics, would you call that unfair?

Algeria is not even a rich country, you're basically punching down in this instance.
This is an extremely poor excuse for people using men in the women's divisions. There is no meaning to "born naturally as a female." A person with an XY genetic makeup is a male; if he doesn't look like a male, that is because he has a disorder (Swyer, androgen insensitivity, etc...) that makes him less masculine than a normal male. But in this case, he is still far more masculine than women. If the delivering doctor called this a female, it is because no genetic testing was done, thus resulting in an erroneous call.

While there is no such thing as being fair because every person has his/own genetic advantages and every nation as differences in resource, the line between male and female is still drawn. The argument that the existance of unfair factors should result in no attempts to make anything fair at all will result in the elimination of women in sports altogether and joke games where open cheating is applauded. "The Bughouse Olympics: if it says female on the passport, that's all you need."
Whoever is in charge of female gymnasts of China needs to be replaced. Seriously the approach doesn't seem to work anymore when getting gold at the Olympics.
Maybe this Olympic will wake them up. Especially since there won't be a Simone biles next time.

Otherwise this is just pure neglect
Already addressed. The female gymnastics team realized after their horrifying team performance (7th place?) that their training is antiquated. They can no longer rely on young and light athletes who retire at 20 but must train well-muscled and robust athletes with much longer careers. They are planning on the overhaul; we will wait for those results in a few years but it can't be that fast unfortunately.
Team China has to settle for the silver in the Badminton Men's Doubles. Losing by the slimmest of margins. (17-21, 21-18, 19-21)
I'd rather lose a gold to the US than to them but somebody tell me what anthem plays in this instance. When Hong Kong wins, it is the Chinese anthem.

I honestly don't like this Olympics. It feels like a repeat of Tokyo except worse. A lot of the medalists are the same people as last time. This time is more painful to watch for China because their performance is kinda like Tokyo but worse.

For example last time they lost gymnastics all round to Japan but they can blame home bias. Ok so what's their excuse this time since it's not in Japan?

This time there will be no close race with US in gold because China is running out of opportunities by choking many of them. So forget about beating US this time. And next time US is host so we won't see it either. I don't know if we will live long enough to see China beat the US in the Olympics as non host.

Then again maybe there won't be a next time. We are getting dangerously close to war now.

Sarah Sjoestroem (SWE) won Gold in the Women's 50m Freestyle, 0.05s slower than the Olympic record she set in the semifinal. Meg Harris (AUS) achieved Silver, Bronze for Zhang Yufei (CHN). Wu Qingfeng (CHN) finished 7th.

38 golds? We didn't do poorly in Tokyo and this time we're going to Europe, so it's going to affect us more than in Asia. Enjoy more, don't be so down.

Dude who doesn't look like he works out fell twice on the high bars. It happens; it's sports. You can't really have any expectations when it's based on how a few individual people do on a given day. It happens to everyone all the time.

Very defeatist. While likely we can lose but it's not certain and we can still watch with optimism. China's not the only one underperforming as I said. The US has 6 golds in swimming compared to 11 last time and there are only a handful of events left. The US set a WR in the heats of the 4x100 mixed only to get run down by a white girl in the last 10 meters. They talked about ShaCarri Richardson (or however that's spelled) being the fastest woman on earth; she got beaten by a person from a country smaller than your local Walmart. It happens to everyone but we take it so hard when it happens to us.

One thing is for sure and it's that this is the first Olympics where it is clear that the US is so scared of us, they are cheating and pulling out all the stops from sending the FBI to conspiring with WADA to sleep-deprive us. We've never seen this desperation before and while it may or may not reflect in the medals, putting your enemy on the ropes is an achievment in itself and a necessary step before beating him.

China's doing worse in these Olympics because they're hosted in Europe, not Asia.

Just like European football teams do better in European World Cups, Chinese Olympians perform better in East Asia.

China did well in Tokyo because Japan is similar to China in a ton of subtle, environmental, cultural ways that subconsciously affect performance. On the other hand, France is thoroughly different from China. Stuff as small as climate, food, or even the familiarity of city architecture alters performance. In fact, I think China overperformed in 2021. I didn't expect them to get within one gold medal of the USA.

It's not political; Japan is more anti-China than France. In the 2018 Russian World Cup, European teams stomped despite the traditional dislike of Russia.

I expected China to do worse than Tokyo because of this. It's not surprising.

You can turn your argument around because I can ask why then does team USA do well in the Americas, Europe and East Asia, like the setting doesn't matter to them.

Team China has more pressure to win the golds in the favoured sports which has limited medals because team USA has multiple chances in medal heavy sports like swimming and athletics. They can afford to have many misses and still top the medal table. I don’t think people would be as frustrated with few gold misses if China was strong in swimming and athletics.
