Same. I feel like trying tennis right now. There's a paid court outside my house. Then I remembered I tried it 2 times before as a kid and hated it both times. I'm waiting for the day when Chinese players dominate tennis then we can change that retarded scoring system. Love, 30, 40, Advantage, what the fuck? Whatever happened to 1, 2, 3?? Use numbers that go up chronologically! I had to google furiously to figure out what was going on when I saw Zheng's first game cus the scores don't go up in a way that makes sense!

China has the only people winning singles Grand Slam too (Li Na). Other Asians have won doubles though.
The scoring system is a hold over from when they were scored using a clock on the field - the minute hand for one player and the hour hand for the other. You would place them on the 15, 30 and 45 positions to show who was winning.
When the rules were changed to require winning a game by two points, the hands were placed on 40 to show deuce, with the winner of the next point placed on 45 to display advantage, with the hand reset to 40 if the other player won.
I think it is a quaint holdover from the history of the game and should be kept as an idiosyncrasy - it's a charming bit of anachronism.
